"Kung Fu Hustle" w/AnyDVD

Ok, so for a while I've been running DVD Decrypter in ElbyCDIO mode, with structure checking turned off. Essentially I just like ripping through it, I know it's silly of me.

Anyway, Kung Fu Hustle gets LOTS of pack header errors... and takes FOREVER to rip.

I switched DVD Decrypter back to SPTI, it found 10 "suspect areas" and ripped just fine.

Might be a new Arccos version. I'm sure Slysoft is already aware of it, just thought I'd share.

Hey Gurm - have you sent the IFO files off to Slysoft? Seems someone else has problems too. Out of interest, did you run it through CDSpeed to see if there are any mastering errors?

I don't, as a general rule, use CloneDVD... just AnyDVD.

And... I'll be sending the IFOs off shortly. Err, no. No I won't. Lent the damn disc out already. Bleh. Ok, when I get it BACK, if someone hasn't already done so...

Amen to That, not even worth a .25 blank disc.

Re: "Kung Fu Hustle" w/AnyDVD

How could you not like this movie? Oh, wait... you were expecting a different movie maybe? Went there expecting something else? Not really a fan of kung-fu flicks?

It's shitty kung-fu done with a big budget and decent actors... to comedic effect. And in that respect it's the best of its breed. You can dislike the entire genre, but this movie is gold.

i love the movie, but that aside...you have to give props to Stephen Chow - he wrote, directed, produced and starred in the film...now that's talent...

Re: "Kung Fu Hustle" w/AnyDVD

I had the same problem as described in Post#1. Was using Nero Recode and AnyDVD. Used DVDDecrypter to rip in file mode and than used Nero Recode to compress and burn. Worked this way !!!

Hey, can YOU send the IFO files to Slysoft? Mine is out on loan (with the backup safely tucked away, the whole REASON I copy movies) for another couple weeks.

Re: "Kung Fu Hustle" w/AnyDVD

it ripped and wrote in Decrypter ISO mode (default settings) just fine for me...save for the dummy sectors which were automatically replaced by Decrypter...

Re: "Kung Fu Hustle" w/AnyDVD

Those of you having trouble with AnyDVD/Recode, try copying the movie to your hard drive first, then use Recode. I suspect it'll work however I don't have this movie to try it with. Personally, I still recommend CloneDVD/AnyDVD combination.

Re: "Kung Fu Hustle" w/AnyDVD

Using AnyDVD 5.4.1.1 and had problems with Kung Fu Hustle. Came up with workarounds.

What didn't work for me:
1. AnyDVD, rip with DVDDecrypter 3.5.4.0, compress movie only with dvd2one 1.5.2. Plays with my Pana DVD-RP56. Doesn't play with Sony DVP-NS725P.
2. AnyDVD, copy VIDEO_TS from DVD, compress movie w/dvd2one. Same as #1.

Workaround:
1. AnyDVD, rip with DVDDecrypter, compress movie only with dvd2one. Re-authored compressed movie with DVDShrink 3.2.0.15 with backup and set the start frame 6 seconds into the movie. Burned with Nero 6. Alls well.

My solution was roundabout, bottom line being that the first 6 seconds appeared to be bogus.

As nobody was yet so kind to send us .ifo files, please send them when you get back your disc.
Please make sure that AnyDVD is disabled. Copy all .ifo files to harddisk, zip them and send them with a little explanation (title & region of disc) to support(at)slysoft.com and bugs(at)elby.ch.

Thank you!
