I know this feature isn't supposed to work with all dvds, but this Anydvd feature worked fine with Firefly:The Complete Series Region 1 and Anydvd 6.1.0.0.

Is that feature just for watching movies or does it have an impact when ripping?

Both, insofar as the feature affects playback of the original disc on your computer with Anydvd running--and when playing (on a standalone player) a backup copy produced by using anydvd and a burning application.

It's probably intended for when you're watching movies, but, since it changes the IFO contents on the fly, any ripping application will see the modified IFO's instead of the original. So, it's best to use this option with care as like Webslinger knows, it doesn't always work.

I came into the Firefly experience backwards.

On a whim, I rented Serenity, and I enjoyed it: I thought Nathan Fillion was channeling the spirit of Han Solo a little--and the movie seemed to reflect some strange mixing of Cowboy Bepop and Alien. So then I bought the television series (and the movie). Good fun . . .

Too bad the series was cancelled. I didn't know about the series until it was too late.

Is it fixed now?

Anydvd 6.1.0.2 didn't change anything for the "Jump directly to title menu" feature, so discs 2, 3, and 4 still don't jump directly to the title menu when that feature is selected.

But this feature isn't supposed to work with all discs.

He let me borrow the box set and said the story is kind of like Han Solo's adventures. He only let me borrow Serenity after I watched the Firefly box set.

Begrudgingly I have to agree with the Firefly/Serenity sentiments. I'll be picking up the box set myself at some point. See, my problem with it wasn't that it was a good or bad show...simply that it replaced Dark Angel and I'm a HUGE Jessica Alba fan. So I boycotted the damn thing until September of last year when my boss made me record the sci-fi marathon they had. I'll admit it...it's good.

So the 4-disk series came first, then the movie "Serenity" correct? So, I guess if I am a first time watcher, I should watch the series first correct? Or is the movie a prequil?

I notice from the IMDb listing that they had the forsight to film and release the four disk series set in 1.78:1 anamorphic aspect ratio instead of a damn square TV format. Excellent!

Why was the series cancelled?
