Interesting problem

I learns something today. I was going to back up a movie inserted it and then started anydvd and dvd decrypter . I did not wait for the disk finish spin up before starting the programs. Most of the times, I start anydvd then dvd decrypter then insert the disk but not this time. After dvd decrypter burnt the disk to the hardrive, I then went to dvd rebuilder to rebuild it but it came up with a error. I went to clonedvd and tried to clone the files and it came up with copy protection PS 18 TCE. I then update to the latest anydvd I was one behind and it worked fine using anydvd and dvd decrypter to back it up to the hardrive. I went back to the old version and it also worked fine. I noticed the bad first files that I could not play them with powerdvd either they had sound but not picture. What I think the problem was that the drive was in the process of bring up the dvd using powerdvd when I started anydvd the first time . Had I done it the way I should have and started anydvd then inserted the disk I would not have had this problem or had I let the disk spin up close powerdvd then started anydvd the dvd decrypter I would not have had problems. I could do like others have said and leave anydvd running all the time but I hate having something running I do not need at that time.

Re: Interesting problem

Id have to argue that as Anydvd initializes the drives when you start it up and your system re-checks for media afterward.

Re: Interesting problem

I think it was just a timing problem I had to do each one at just the right time to get the problem.

Re: Interesting problem

Yes...Timing....Oh,well.....This is what I do.....AnyDVD is always left on....
When I insert disk I hold down the shift key....This disables the autoStart....ThereFore the DVD player on my PC wont start..(good "A")....
I look at the red fox...and when it has stoped going a light pink, and go'es back to bright red...I take my finger off the shift key.....Then I can use what program I like......To rip to hard drive.....This feature is built into CloneDVD.
But start CloneDVD first before putting in disk.....Saves time .....

I thought that AnyDVD would prevent autoplay/autorun automatically (at least if you have "PC-Friendly" - not a very descriptive name for the option - clicked on).

Am I mistaken?

Yes. It will only prevent AutoRon (execution of autorun.inf). AutoPlay will still work! This is the whole idea - otherwise you could disable AutoPlay in the OS.
