Olli is doing a great job. He is a genius, probably the smartest man in Switzlerland if thats where he lives. Hey Olli, how do you find out the sony arCCos version #? In your updates you say that for example Closer R2 has a new version of the arCCos protection. How are you able to confirm? I'd love to know!!!!!!

First of all, I am not doing the updates, SlySoft does. I am just talking out of technical interest. To learn about what Arccos does to the DVDs, IFOEdit and ISOBuster are the tools to use. IFOEdit to look at the IFOs, ISOBuster to see the LBA adresses and how Sony did manage to screw all values in the .ifo files.

See above thread - it appears that it is not an AnyDVD problem but a CloneDVD2 problem.

Re: Hitch

Olli,

Would it be possible to use a hex editor to see the version # of the arCCos protection?

Re: Hitch

I still think thier might be some issues that were copy protection. It copied fine with nero and anydvd 5.2.7.1 but didn't work with the previous versions of anydvd I tried. This is from the same original disk. I still kind of wonder if they didnt put diffrent copy protection on diffrent batches or maybe thier were some quality control issues that caused some of the disks to be problematic. Everywhere I read about this movie it seems diffrent methods work for diffrent people but no method seems to work for everybody (except maybe anydvd 5.2.7.1, has anybody not been able to copy with it and nero or clone dvd?).

Re: Hitch

Thank you Olli for clearing that up. You have been most helpful. One last question. So I don't waste all of today and 5 more weeks looking for nothing, the ArCCOs version # *can* be found with IFO edit, correct?

Thank you 100x Olli.

No, there is no version number. You can only see, that the discs are mastered differently if you look closely.

From the 5.2.7.1 release notes:
- Fix: Problem introduced in 5.2.4.2 - not all unreadable
areas of ARccOS protected discs were replaced with dummy
sectors

Re: Hitch

Which version of 1 Click are you using? I upgraded mine to ver 4212 and used AnyDVD ver 5261 and copied Hitch with no problems at all.

Re: Hitch

Easy fellow freaks...arrogance or confidence in a product isn't necessarily a bad thing.

In a situation where one product didn't work and a competitor did work, given the exact same process and source dvd, be a little more open (and helpful) to other possibilities rather than blaming the copy software or claiming user error.

Re: Hitch

Made backup copy of Hitch Region 2 using Anydvd 5271 with Dvd Shrink or Dvd Decrypter both worked fine with Anydvd, my concern is why CloneDvd2 2841 failed to break thru encryption coming up with error code:
PS 10 VOBU 4 2716 14 CLONE 6 TCE when using All Titles and Menus and the error code PS 10 VOBU 4 14 14 CLONE 6 TCE PICTURE READER when using Copy Dvd Titles, after all I thought this software was developed to run alongside AnyDvd.
All the problems people seem to have had making backups of this film seem to point to CloneDvd2 being the problem rather than AnyDvd, Spanglish backup poised no prblem for AnyDvd 5271 running with CloneDvd2, Dvd Shrink or DvdDecrypter, can anybody give a final answer to this problem and close this thread.

Sorry James, doesn't work. But I know what you're doing wrong, you are not applying your "magic" correctly. You must modify both Program Chains in VTS8, not just the first one. The bad sectors are correctly mapped (that's why Recode & Shrink work fine), but CloneDVD tries to read the "null" sectors and aborts at the invalid (null) packet header. (Thank you, for NOT replacing the bad sector with correct sectors like DVDidle, otherwise this error would remain unnoticed).
