HI I AM A NEWBIE & AS SUCH I PROBABLY MADE A SIMPLE "NEWBIE' ERROR

I HAVE 2 QUESTIONS


FIRST OFF TO GET IT OUT OF THE WAY

YES I LEGALLY PURCHASED AND DL MY ANYDVD

GOT IT JUST BEFORE THE CHRISTMAS PROMOTION SO I PAID $95 FOR THE BUNDLE

ANYWAY I HAVE JUST UPDATED TO
6.0.9.5

NOW HERE"S MY PROBLEM

AFTER I INSTALLED I WAS ASKED

"KEEP OLD LOG" OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES

I CHOSE "NO"

AND RESTARTED

SHOULD WE CHHOSE "YES" WHEN IT ASKS THIS QUESTION?

WHAT IS THE BETTER CHOICE?

NOW AT FIRST I WAS GETTING A MESSAGE SAYING I HAD NO DRIVE ANYMORE FOR MY DVD WHEN I OPENED ANYDVD

AFTER RESTARTING aGAIN AND CLICKING MY "KEY"

THE DRIVE SHOWS UP AGAIN

BUT ANY MOVIE I PLAY HAS NO SOUND!?

HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS

1: HOW DO I GET MY DRIVE WORKING THE WAY IT WAS AGAIN?
I AM USING XP Service Pack 2

I DID A SYSTEM RESTORE ROLLBACK...NO AVAIL

WILL "UPDATING MY DRIVER" WORK

SHOULD I UNISTALL THE DRIVER?

2: I UNISTALLED 6.0.9.5 AND REINSTALLED THE FIRST ANYDVD
PERSONALLY 6.0.9.5 SEEMS A BIT BUGGY TO ME

I JUST SAW A EVEN NEWER UPDATE 6.0.9.7

ARE ANY USERS FINDING ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW UPDATE?

SHOULD WE UPGRADE?

When I update Any DVD I have never been asked to keep or discard a log file. So I am at a loss as to what that is. Do you mean Any movie you play in your computer has no sound? Or do you mean when you insert a DVD to back up Clone DVD 2 dose not play sound in the preview mode? If so its not suposed to. I am a little confused as to what exactly your problem is. Back up a disk and play it in your computer if your hear the audio then your ok. If not make sure you checked the box to include audio in your back up. You can find out how to properly back up a DVD by clicking the help icon on the top of the program and folowing the links.

I CAN BACKUP DVD's NO PROB.

MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I TRY TO PLAY A DVD
EITHER A BACK UP OR REGULAR I GET NO SOUND DURING PLAYBACK

IT'S NOT MY SETTINGS OR ANYTHING I CHECKED

THIS HAPPENED WHEN I UPDATED TO 9.5

I KNOW YOU CAN'T HEAR THE PREVIEWS IN THE DVD CLONE APPLICATION...I'M NOT THAT DUMB! HA HA

BUT SOMETHING DURING THE UPDATE PROCESS DISABLED MY SOUND FOR DVD PLAYBACK

EVERYTHIGN ELSE WORKS SOUNDWISE

MP'3'S...MPEGS....EVEN OTHER VIDEO FILES LIKE DIVX OR AVI HAVE SOUND

IT'S JUST ISO FILES AND DVD'S

THEY PLAY BUT SILENT

I WAS HOPING THIS WAS'NT THAT RARE A PROBLEM AND SOMEONE WOULD GO

I AM STILL HOPING FOR THAT CAUSE AS IT STANDS I CAN'T WATCH ANY DVD'S ON MY COMPUTER NOW.

There....I did'nt think it was really an issue

I just prefer typing without having to worry about "shift" every few seconds

but I do take ANY suggestion seriously

You might have checked this - but have you looked for sound options in the software you're using to play the DVDs etc?

It's not my sound options...

When I go to my Hardware profiles all the sound card stuff seems to be "dissabled"

Please keep the help coming...

I very likely doubt it is anydvd that is not producing the sound ordeal. Does the sound playback on the stand alone DVD Player? Not the PC but the theater one hooked up to your T.V.

That sounds ominous. Any yellow exclamation marks next to your sound devices in Device Manager?

Open up your device manager, take a screenshot and post it. Sounds like your soundcard/drivers are honked.

Again all my devices play with sound and I see no exclamation points in my device manager.

The ONLY weird thing I DO see in the device manager is under "Audio codecs" and "Legacy audio drivers" and all those

Under "properties" for ALL of these the "device usage" area for all is greyed and BLANK

I don't think they were like this before I updated to 9.5

Anyway the discs I burn play with sound on home theatre players

Sound plays with Winamp etc

The ONLY thing I can't get sound from is DVD's I play

With any DVD program I try to playback with on my computer

Dell player, Win DVD, Power DVD, all playback DVD files with NO SOUND.

Before I installed 9.5 I watched a Cars back up with Power DVD and it played perfect

I updated and after my DVD drive completely dissappeared

Then I Uninstalled but this did'nt fix my problems

SO then I did a System restore still NO DVD DRive found AT ALL!

So I did another system restore to a later date adn thsi brought my drive back

But now no sound

So then I reinstalled ym first ANYDVD

And that brings me up to now

Running AnyDVD no problems but having ALL DVD playback devices unable to playback with sound.

Hope this makes my situation a bit clearer

If I am still being vague about the issue I appologize, I am TRYING to describe my issue the best I can.

Welcome to the forum. I do not think AnyDVD can make your dvds mute. Check your audio streams in your burning programs.

it could be some missing codecs

install this codec pack & see if it helps

Reinstal your sound card/ audio drivers.

OK...I know how to get a screen capture

And I can save it as a JPEG...but how do I paste it into the post?

Also I am, DL that codec pack now

After DL is complete do I place it anywhere specific or is it just a "double click" autorun executable file?

Double Click it and let it do its thing. On the posting a pic use image shack to do that.
