AnyDVD Discuss, The Grudge at Copy Movie forum; I had no problems backing up The Grudge using ANY DVD 4.5.6.2 and DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15. Why did everyone else have to use the newer version of Any DVD?

Re: The Grudge

I had an issue copying the VTS 08 03 file on THE GRUDGE, for some reason my NEC ND-3520A wont copy that file.

I am using ANYDVD 4.5.6.2 to copy files to HDD.

I just copied all files before and after VTS 08 03 and used DVDShrink 3.2 to do a full backup and also did a re-author for the feature only and it worked fine without the VTS 08 03.

Note to new DVD Shrink users and new DVD backup artists...if you want the best quality video you want the least compression.

With DVD Shrink, use the re-author mode, copy only the movie and remove the French language support as well as the French/Spanish subtitles, this gives you a little more data space to compress the movie into.
Check the compression tab, if it is less than 100% you are compressing the movie. The higher you are to 100% the better the quality and the less compress time it will take.

You have to be careful removing the 2ch English audio as sometimes features on the movie require it. Some movies will copy with no compression onto a 4.5gb DVD (even with menus) but some longer movies with bigger soundtracks will benefit from the extra space saved by not having menu's and French language tracks.

Hopefully this little bit of info helps some of you newbies.

Re: The Grudge

Hi, I've been trying to back up my copy of the Grudge since Wenesday and I keep receiving this error:
Processing error at 62 percent while trying to back up the movie.
G:/Video_TS/VTS_07_3.VOB:read Error

Can someone please help me out.
Much appreciated,

Much rather watch her instead of doing the mastering for sure!

Re: The Grudge

I've actually encounted one problem with the grudge.

I reauthored it with only the main movie using shrink. Everything went well except the movie has roughly 8 minutes of black screen in chapter 1 before the actual movie begins to play. its a bit annoying since i have to either skip to chapter 2 and fast rewind or fast forward 8 mins til the title screen appears.

has anyone experienced this before?

all my previous burns have been excellent. benq 1620 and memorex +Rs.

i still have the iso on file.

Re: The Grudge

ok, so i've been using dvdxcopy express and it worked great, but then i had problems trying to backup "The Grudge". So i found this forum and i tried out clonedvd and anydvd (the latest versions). everything worked fine until i tried to play the backup disc. it would sluggishly play on my computer, but when i tried to play it on a regular dvd player it kept giving me disc read errors. does anyone know whats going wrong? and how i can copy the grudge so that i can watch it on a regular dvd player?

Re: The Grudge

sounds like a media related problem to me. if anydvd and clonedvd didn't alert you of any errors, the files were processed correctly. tried it myself with no problems whatsoever. I always use memorex + Rs without a hitch.

I have the same problem.

I upgraded to CloneDVD2 v2.7.5.1 and AnyDVD v4.5.7.2 and several cold reboots finally fixed the problem with the crc error on the LiteOn SOHW 832S. [Strange... the old Samsung SM308B DVD reader ran right thru the first time.]

I'm trying to play the backup now on this old Toshiba SD-3006 [autobitsetting to dvd-rom on all +R TY02 disks] and it's not even counting time.... just showing a black screen. I can skip to chapter 2 but it misses the opening screen and first few minutes of the movie.

I'll have to try preserving the menus, burn another copy and see what happens.

Re: The Grudge

I was having all the same difficulties as others on this post backing up Grudge with CloneDVD2/AnyDVD. I was using my new Dell 9200 with its NEC_ND6500A DL burner. It never occured to me thst the problem could be my drive. I have had no other problems reading or burning any other DVD's to date so I did not consider it. After reading through this forum and seeing others sble to back up using the same software combo I am I decided to go to my desk top where I have a Pioneer 107 burner and viola! Read, burned perfectly in a matter of 17.25 minutes total time.
I am very happy to see CloneDVD2/AnnyDVD did not fail me. For the price, Decrypter/Shrink can't be beat however for paid software I stand by Clone/AnyDVD.
