| Finding Neverland from Netflix New guy here - Hi. I own AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. Last night, I tried to view "Finding Neverland", which I got from Netflix, on my PC. It would not read the disk. AnyDVD would not even see it. I tried it on a second PC, and I also could not read the disc on that PC. It plays in my stand-alone DVD player fine. Is there some strange copy protection that would keep me from even viewing the movie on my PC? |

| Copying A Netflix Rental DVD ? Hello Folks, The only reason I can think of someone using the AnyDVD- CloneDVD software combination is to make a backup copy of a Commercial DVD Movie Title. Quite possibly the reason Forum Member Aspirin99 states he is using the AnyDVD-CloneDVD software combination to view a Netflix rental DVD is that he is fully aware that it is illegal to make a backup copy of a rental DVD that you do not own. Also quite possibly Forum Member Aspirin99 has read the Forum Rules (http://club.cdfreaks.com/announcemen...ouncementid=37) and fully aware that Forum Members are not going to provide any assistance to anyone who violates the Forum Rules. Best Regards, bjkg |

| Re: Finding Neverland from Netflix I did no such thing. The only problem I have is that this disc cannot be viewed on either of my pc's. Others have implied my intension, as I might imply yours by being in a forum called "Copy DVD Movie." Don't get so excited. Peace. |

> I own AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. This just shows he owns the products -> probably thinking if he showed he was a paying customer he'd be more likely to get help. > Last night, I tried to view "Finding > Neverland", which I got from Netflix, > on my PC. It would not read the disk. > AnyDVD would not even see it. I tried > it on a second PC, and I also could > not read the disc on that PC. It plays > in my stand-alone DVD player fine. Here he just said he tried to view it (not copy it) on his computer. AnyDVD defaults to loading up everytime you boot up so it wouldn't be unusual to wonder if there's an AnyDVD problem if you can't view a DVD you put in. > Is there some strange copy protection > that would keep me from even viewing > the movie on my PC? Now he's just asking for help to explain what's going on. I don't see a problem with this post at all . . . Now, if he hasn't sent it back yet, I wonder if he disables AnyDVD if he can view it on his computer?

| Re: Finding Neverland from Netflix i will agree that the mention of anydvd and clonedvd in conjunction with netflix certainly raises a red flag. i don't know what the original intent was, but if the main problem is "i can't view this disc on my computer" then why even bother opening with saying you own anydvd and clonedvd and why post in the copy dvd forum? if they're just wondering if its a copy protection issue, why not post in the copy protection forum... i'm not saying the original poster is lying, i'm just clarifying why this post was so misleading. |

Now in general... I too, am kinda tired of seeing all these posts accusing people of illegal activities without any reasonable justification. If someone admits they are doing something wrong (cracks, NF copies, etc.), then so be it & rip into them - but until you know what is going on, it would be nice to be a little more civil. I don't post near what I could because of the hostility that arises in some threads. Otherwise people who really need help will be put off by the intimidation and assumtions.

Read the post . . . > I own AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. Again, probably just trying to show he's a good customer of SlySoft. > Last night, I tried to view "Finding Neverland", > which I got from Netflix, on my PC. It would > not read the disk. AnyDVD would not even > see it. I tried it on a second PC, and I also > could not read the disc on that PC. It plays > in my stand-alone DVD player fine. Obviously AnyDVD was running during his viewing attempt and that's not unusual since AnyDVD loads automatically, but we don't know what viewing program he was using - could've been PowerDVD or something similar . . . why must we always jump to conclusions?

| Re: Finding Neverland from Netflix > i don't know what the original intent was, > but if the main problem is "i can't view this > disc on my computer" then why even > bother opening with saying you own anydvd > and clonedvd He's concerned that AnyDVD, one of SlySoft's products, isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing and he's probably mentioning he owns their software to show that he's a legitament customer of SlySofts' and not using hacked software (as well as probably hoping that SlySoft is more apt to answer a question from a paying customer). > and why post in the copy dvd forum? I didn't realize this was the "copy dvd" forum, I thought it was the "AnyDVD" forum. It would seem appropriate to post a question about AnyDVD's performance in the AnyDVD forum . . . > if they're just wondering if its a copy > protection issue, why not post in the > copy protection forum... Isn't one of AnyDVD's functions to remove copy protections (beyond CSS)? Why would you post a question about DVD copy protection and AnyDVD's apparent failure to remove it in any other forum than the AnyDVD forum? > i'm not saying the original poster is lying, i'm just > clarifying why this post was so misleading. Huh? Read the post, it's not misleading at all to me . . . it appears to me many are reading more into it than there really is. Lets all take a deep breath and a few minutes to actually read the posts before we start making assumptions and accusations and then chastising people on those assumptions and accusations. |

| Re: Finding Neverland from Netflix i was not making any assumptions or accusations, and I stated that in my post so please do not put words in my mouth. The anydvd is a subforum within Copy DVD. I agree that there is some overlap between this forum and the dvd copy protection forum, I just feel that this post would have been better suited there and without the mention of a decrypter and a ripper in the first sentence. I stand by my original statement, that i don't know or care what the original intent was, but I can see how this post can be viewed as very misleading. |

| Re: Finding Neverland from Netflix I dont see the problem here guys... If you want to watch a DVD on your Home theater pc (Ie. your primary dvd player thats connected to your display device) and the disc is protected such that you have to RIP it to your HDD and run FIXVTS (or similar) over it just to watch it then I think its a legitamate problem. The poster COULD have been forced to use clonedvd to 'process' the DVD to do 1:1 copy (onto the HDD) in order to simply watch it. Personally I get really annoyed trying to watch a DVD I OWN (and even more so ones I rent) on my HTPC and I cant because of the copy-protection - necessitating me to RIP it to HDD. At first glance the post looked dodgey, but I know where the guy is comming from and its a real problem. Cheers, Bitey |
