Failed to Read DVD! Message (But actually can)

After copying a DVD with the AnyDVD default settings, I reinserted the copy into my DVD drive and an AnyDVD screen popped up.

Failed to read DVD!

This could have several reasons:

1. -DVD media is dirty, you can try to clean it.
2. -DVD media is damaged, you have to replace it.
3.-Your drive is a region locked RPC2 drive, which does not allow reading of scrambled sectors from a different region and you try to read a DVD from a different region. You can try to find a RPC1 patched firmware at http://www.rpc1.com
4. -Your drive is an RPC2 drive that has not yet been assigned a Region. Try to assign one, or try to find patched firmware at http://www.rpc1.com

However, my DVD player actually does end of reading the disc that was created.

Could someone explain what is happening? My DVD writer is a TDK 8x with DVD-R, DVD+R capabilities. My internal DVD drive is a Toshiba drive.

As an addition to the above, both of my DVD drives are set to region 1, and the settings in AnyDVD are also at region 1. Is the setting for RPC2 simulation more of a troubleshooting device, and is the solution to just uncheck it?

What region are the movie you are trying to rip? Set AnyDVD region to same region.

The movies I'm trying to read are region 1. The original works fine, without the AnyDVD popup message. It is the the copy that generates the message; however, the movie still seems to work. Everything is set to the same region: 1.

Re: Failed to Read DVD! Message (But actually can)

For anyone who may read this thread, thanks to Bernd Hasting's reply from Slysoft. He mentioned that this problem sometimes occurs with unprotected media. Since the media is unprotected, all that is necessary is to disable AnyDVD. Until or unless this minor inconvenience might be resolved (?) in a future version of AnyDVD, what I have suggested as a simple workaround in the next AnyDVD is an addition to the pop-up screen.

On the "Failed to read DVD!" screen, a 4th listing to the "This could have several reasons:" to the list on the pop-up screen could be added? An example would be:

4. -Your DVD media is unprotected and can actually be read. There is no problem. Please disable AnyDVD when playing this DVD.

While it might be nice not to have this screen pop up while AnyDVD is activated, the above might alleviate any worries that a user may have in my situation.
