Re: Editing DVD Menus

Try CloneDVD or Recode. Shrink is another very powerful program. And it's FREE!

I'll look at shrink. CloneDVD2 is my main backup program but I don't see where it will allow you to edit the menus, it just lets you select files and then automatically removes unreferenced links, but it wont actually remove the button.

I found a program called pgcedit and with it I was able to edit a menu file and remove the warning screens and some previews.

I see there's a program called MenuEdit also, but the freebie trial program is a joke, doesn't let you actually do anything, and I prefer to test it completely before plunking cash down . . .

Selecting Clone DVD mode should remove the ads. Then select the main movie title. CloneDVD will not allow you to trim a chapter. You need to use Shrink or Recode for this function.

?? "Clone DVD copies" -everything-.

"Copy DVD Titles" just copies what you select, and you can just select the movie and drop the ads and the menu stays in tact.

Some titles put warnings, MPAA ratings, etc at the front of the main menu instead of as separate files though so Clone DVD brings them with the menu.

If you remove subtitles, languages, etc. CloneDVD2 links that menu selection back to whatever you left (i.e. selecting Spanish language when you've removed it doesn't hang the player, it just links you to the English), so menu buttons aren't a big deal though it would be nice to make it so you can't even select them.

The warnings and other garbage at the front of the menu would be nice to remove though, and just playing tonight I was able to do that using pgcedit.

Re: Editing DVD Menus

OK, Just doing some playing tonight . . .

MenuEdit is easier to use - it can edit the menus so you can remove the annoying banners. It can also disable a button in the menu so it can't be selected (it can't remove the label from the menu though - that's part of the graphic that the menu screen consists of).

PGCEdit is much harder to use, but I was able to muddle through some of it. It can also remove the annoying banners pretty easily and another nice feature is that it can vary the time that a banner stays up (you may want the MPAA rating banner, but not for 10 seconds - pgcedit allows you to enter the number of seconds it would display).

I think I'll be using both, though menuedit will probably be used the most frequently.
