I'm always up for a alpha/beta of AnyDVD

It was, after all, a private beta for a reason. It was never expected to be advertised as stable or for public consumption. Usage and possible issues encountered are the responsibility of the person who installed the software. There may be issues, regressions, etc. That's how it goes. Again remember the very important word in the term private beta.

That's why it wasn't released to the public! It was not meant for ANYONE outside of Slysoft's private beta team to see at all. Use at your own risk was not a joke.

I agree what you say. I also agree IMO it should of never been leaked into public. To me the SW is more of a Alpha build then a beta. You said it all. Use at your own risk. I did and trashed it too.

Re: Discussion Thread for AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 BETA

That's probably the best course of action for now. I'm sure they're probably working on it as we speak. This is a pretty significant change to AnyDVD and as such it's going to take some time to get the kinks worked out. But when it's done, man, it's going to ROCK.

Re: Discussion Thread for AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 BETA

Again, reinstall 6.1.7.4 until Slysoft releases the new version on their website.

Re: Discussion Thread for AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 BETA

I went back to 6.1.7.4 even though I had no problem with 6.1.7.5 I noticed after loading 6.1.7.4 that anydvd still said it was 6.1.7.5 so I did a uninstall then reinstall to get it back to 6.1.7.4.

Re: Discussion Thread for AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 BETA

Yes, you MUST uninstall 6.1.7.5 first otherwise it won't "downgrade" it.

Then you haven't used it very much. It's got many bugs.

Re: Discussion Thread for AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 BETA

As SamuriHL so politely put it, you should not be using this beta. You do so at your own risk. It still has many bugs and my advice would be to wait until the Final Version is released.

Re: Discussion Thread for AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 BETA

j/w will this latest version deal with Sony protection on Blades of Glory and some other that came out recently? I think Sony is reverse engineering Slysoft software to stop Anydvd decryption software...that's my opinion because maybe it's a popular software, that is why maybe they are directing their protection toward Slysoft and not other decryption company software.

First off, they're not directing their protection towards Slysoft. All the major rippers(except one) had to be updated to handle Blades of Glory when it came out. And again when Blade House of Chthon came out.

Not owning Blades of Glory, nor will I ever, I can't tell you whether it's handled correctly or not with 6.1.7.5 but I believe 6.1.7.4 handles it.

6.1.7.1 2007 09 01
- New (DVD): Added support for new versions of the SONY Arccos protection
to the option to remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors", e.g.
"Blades of Glory" R1, US
Note: This new protection is supported by CloneDVD, CloneCD, DVDShrink and Nero Recode without using the AnyDVD ripper!
So, yea, it's been handled for a while now.

Blades of Glory should work fine with AnyDVD 6.1.7.4 however do not use the AnyDVD ripper. When AnyDVD was updated to handle Blades of Glory the ripper had to be changed to strip the <> from the disc's volume name when creating the directory the files were ripped to but apparently in AnyDVD 6.1.7.4 it is attempting to rip the DVD to a directory containing <> again which will fail. Use CloneDVD, CloneCD, DVD Shrink or Nero Reode instead of the AnyDVD ripper and things will be fine with AnyDVD 6.1.7.4.

This was discussed at one point in the Slysoft forums and I don't recall input from James about it. I don't know if it's a regression or my memory is just bad but I could swear this problem didn't exist with AnyDVD 6.1.7.1.

Regardless of whether people do have access to AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 private beta they shouldn't use it unless they are part of the private beta testers team. The reason I say this is not only because it does contain numerous bugs but the beta testers will have a fuller understanding of what those bugs are. Other people may make backups that they believe to be fine but won't realize are messed up until later when they go to watch the burned disc.

People really should uninstall the private beta release and go back to AnyDVD 6.1.7.4 and patiently wait for the finished product which, while it has no current ETA, will be very very nice when it's released.

Edit: Of course I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, SamuriHL, but it's meant more for other people to read and since you were responding about Blades of Glory I quoted you.

Re: Discussion Thread for AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 BETA

It's a regression and is fixed in the private beta.

- Fix (DVD) AnyDVD ripper could complain, that the destination
directory has insufficient space

It's not actually doing what we think it's doing with the <>'s. I asked James about this when someone pointed out the error and he said that's not what was going on. In any case, it'll be fixed in the next version whenever that'll be.

Oh...

I thought that fix had more to do with the issue involved with Paris by Night - Live in Korea where it appeared that AnyDVD was doing a free space check based upon the corrupt UDF file system rather than the actual size of the corrected UDF file system...

Nonetheless, I'm sure everything will be fixed when the update is released.

The problems that they had was with versions of AnyDVD that were released BEFORE they updated it to handle this protection. As you know, I'm on that thread and am fully aware of its contents. Nothing in there suggests any problems at all with copying Blades of Glory with CloneDVD and AnyDVD.

But noone there mentioned what version they were using....So has anyone used Anydvd 6.1.7.4 with Clonedvd or Clonecd and made a duplicate or compressed working version of Blades??

According to the Slysoft forum, people have been successful with 6.1.7.1 or later.

Re: Discussion Thread for AnyDVD 6.1.7.5 BETA

Hi Alan..........i run it on both of my desktops and lappy with same license but i have call home turned off on all 3 and only one loads it. The other 2 are set not to load at start up. Most of the time the other 2 machines are not turned on.

It's no biggie................
