@dewd:
Someone has sent me IFOs for "The devil wears prada" R1. Don't know if there are different versions (WS? P&S?).
Couldn't find any special protection which matches to your AnyDVD info window.
Unless I overlooked something this is looks like a defective disc (or your reader slowly dying).

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

I did it and had no problems I love my slysoft cloneDVD2 and anydvd software. I will not go back to what I was using before. Thanks to these two great products I can make sure I have a backup copy of the movies I own for safe keeping. I had a few movies that I couldn't back up using the other program I had.

Success. I was able to backup the movie and the menu with the new disc.

There could be something with the reader as well. I will have to pay attention. It is an old LiteOn 166s. Its outlasted two burners and a hard disk.

Thank you to everyone for the replies.

I am getting the exact same errors that others have reported -- "File 1 I:/VIDEO_TS/VTS_06_3.VOB 23 TCSectorReader".

This is a pristine "Wide Screen" copy.

I have tried Shrink with AnyDvd running , DvdDecrypter , and the Rip toHDD function in AnyDVD-- all have been futile.

The movie plays fine using PowerDVD.

I suspect some sort of a new copy protection scheme.

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

The only new protection on this dvd appears to be poor quality control.
This movie can be ripped with shrink alone, so it has no new or special protection such as accross.
The fact that there is such varied reported experience with this movie, both here and on other forums, strongly suggests that there are a lot of bad discs out there.
Given that, if i had trouble ripping, Id first try cleaning with alcohol. If that did not work, id exchange it.

James my copy of this dvd had the same error, any dvd{version 6095} didn't work, clone dvd didn't work, dvd fab didn't work, rip it 4 me didn't work, so i found my old program "Acala DVD Copy" and it did the job, oh did i say that i tried ripping to hard drive via any dvd no go.
Now what does this program have 'Acala DVD Copy" that your program dosen't have?

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

tjaim,
did you try dvd shrink alone.
try it.
If it does not work, you have a bad disc. go exchange it.
The fact that so many rippers did not work for you , when they have worked for others, just says "Bad Disc".

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

Dr who,
Dont know much about Acala.
Can you explain why it worked and others did not?

Still think this movie suffers from bad and varied quality issues
If youve got another explanation, id love to hear it, cause ive ripped this movie with Shrink alone, and with ripit4me as a test.
The only other viable explanation is that there are different versions out there, but i think that's remote, given who studio is.
So what do you think there doc?
BTW, have you done this movie yet?

No I can't as I never used it. I just pointed that the other poster found this to work and asked slysoft the same question.

Glad it worked businesstoolbox. The real credit goes to James I believe.
If memory serves me correctly, AnyDvd's rip to hd feature was his baby. It has enabled me to backup a few disks that were giving me the same problem.

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

My friend also had the same error with this disc. So is the consensus that's it's bad QC?

Most likely it is a bad bought disc.

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

I had the identical problem using my slysoft anydvd decrypter & 1Click DVD copy. I downloaded a trial of the latest CloneDVD and it copied perfectly.

SAME error here... On the same file...
Brand new, DVD, not even a finger print or a single scratch on it yet.
Using Anydvd 6.0.9.5
More than a strange coincidence?

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

I did this movie with shrink alone.
A friend told me he was able to do it with old DVDXcopy as a test.
So, IMHO, there is no new protection on this movie.
Once again, i think it is a quality control issue.
So, exchange the disc.

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

Just because the DVD appears to be scratchless etc, doesn't mean it is a good copy.

Re: The Devil Wears Prada

I see this again and again on many forums where there is obviously a problem with a newly released DVD.

I also cannot backup my purchased copy of this movie (widescreen). It is brand new, just opened, and plays perfectly.

Every time in the past I have read enough forums or gotten the latest updates to my software (AnyDVD, CloneDVD2, Shrink, DVDFab Decrypter, etc.), or even firmware updates to my Sony DRU-700 and DRU-720 dives. And finally at some point it works or the software is fixed to handle the new encryption.

Everyone that has a problem, is having the same problem in the same spot - so QC of the DVD seems odd to be blamed.

I will continue to try and crack this problem - if not I will have to survive without a backup - which is not the way I like to protect my collection.

Thanks to everyone who has given their ideas on this issue!
