| Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? Hello all, I have finally run into an issue I cannot seem to get around. I recently purchased Bibles on DVD ... it is a 2 disc set. New testament on one and Old on the other .... Disc 1 copys just fine .... but disc 2, while everything I have will copy it to hard drive, absolutely NOTHING will Compress it so I can burn it. These include DVD Rebuilder Pro, CloneDVD2, Video Vault, Nero Recode 2, DVD Shrink.... Even tho "Fit to DVD5" may be selected on whatever program, it still tries to write 7gb to the disc. I used DVD Decryptor to rip it to the computer, and the ripped file plays just fine on my computer .....but I cannot get it burnt onto a disc ........all the above programs report "Not enough space on the target" (except DVD Rebuilder Pro, which simply just crashes and freezes the PC) Just for the heck of it, here is the INFORMATION given by AnyDVD: (if it matters) Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 5.9.6.3) Drive (Hardware) Region: 1 Media is a Data DVD. Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite) Size of first Layer: 2072160 sectors (4047 MBytes) Total size: 3457250 sectors (6752 MBytes) Video DVD (or CD) label: KJV_OLD_TESTAMENT Media is not CSS protected. Video Standard: NTSC Media is locked to region(s): 1 2 3 4 5 6 8! RCE protection not found. DVD structure appears to be correct. Structural copy protection not found. Changed firstplay: Jump directly to TitleMenu! Autorun not found on Video DVD. Bad sector protection not found. Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1! This is the absolute FIRST DVD (out of a couple hundred) I dare say I couldnt get copied. |

| Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? Yeah, I've already tried that ..... (and many, many other things) This movie simply just will NOT compress for whatever reason. I've got one program, I forget which one, ( DVD Remake I think) that says the movie is only 800mb too large to fit on a dvd5 ...... Clone DVD 2 says it needs to compress to "4 pct" ....(I've never ever seen one that low) I am lost |

| Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? 1. Your version of Anydvd is out of date. visit http://www.slysoft.com/download.html and update 2. Quote:
3. Did you try not ripping to your hard drive first (just use Clonedvd2 and Anydvd and let Clonedvd2 do all the work)? 4. Did you try using Anydvd ripper (right click the red fox on your system tray and select "rip video-dvd to harddisk")? I have a feeling the second disc doesn't conform to proper dvd-video standards anyway. Your best bet may be to use Clonecd with a blank DL disc. Is this the title? | Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? In instances like this, my feeling is use a $2 Verbatim Dual Layer and backup 1:1 copy to save yourself the aggravation! Its not worth the $1.50 you'll save to waste a day trying to compress it, IMHO. ![]() |

| Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? Try this: let it run thru once and compress it to the harddrive, even if it only goes to 5-7GB. Then, run those files thru a 2nd time and see if it wll go down to DVD5 size.. I've had a couple of discs in the past I had to do this with. |

| Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? I agree, that the disc does not appear to be protected ... so I tried it with anydvd off .. still no good ...... I do NOT have an outdated anydvd, I downloaded version 6.0.0.4 last night. (and tried, and failed again) I've also tried reshrinking (with dvd shrink) up to 3 times, still wont shrink ... I've tried reripping, with various programs, and still, comes out the same size ... I've tried redoing with clonedvd2, and that by far is the easiest for me, cause at least I know it will fail without going any further, that stops me right at the beginning by saying the compression wil be only 4pct, so I dont even bother going any further from there. I have not tried anydvds 'rip to harddrive' function, because I assumed (Maybe wrongly so) that as DVD decryptor will copy it fine to the harddrive, woulnt anydvd's ripper do the same? (and thus I would still have an uncompressable dvd file) Maybe I am wrong. As this damn thing is mostly all audio, I am assuming that the audio, with words going across the screes, is compressed as far as it will go? (it is DTS 2.0) For the life of me, I can't see any parts I can cut out .. |

| Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? You could use VOB Blanker to split the disc onto two DVD 5. VOB Blanker is free and very easy to use after you have done it once or twice. There are good guides available around the net. Afterdawn etc. I use it all the time when the disc won't compress to an acceptable bit rate. |

That said, as I mentioned in my initial post Clonecd with a DL disc may be the best choice. Quote:

| Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? There is no reason he should not be able to compress this DVD and burn it to a SL disc. Those of you who are recommending burning to a DL disc are avoiding the problem, if this is a software problem, then Slysoft may have to release a CloneDVD and/or AnyDVD update to address this issue. That being said, mtimerding, email your ifo files to Slysoft for analysis. ![]()

I *suspect* this issue has a lot to do with audio compression, more so than video compression. If so, Clonedvd, decrypter, etc. are not going to help. And if the disc isn't protected, then it seems unlikely this an Anydvd issue. But I suppose sending ifos doesn't hurt anything (other than potentially annoying Slysoft).

Nope. Not if there is hardly any video to process. visit http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=45797 The problem described is very similar. "Why can't I compress the DVD enough? Error Code 1: Target Size Exceeded The current DVD size is too big! If you continue, you may not be able to burn the resulting files. Please ensure that video is set to 'Automatic' compression, or try disabling some audio streams. Are you sure you want to continue? Yes/No. Problem: You are trying to shrink a DVD but DVD Shrink can't compress it as much as you want it to be able to fit it on a DVD5 sized disc. There is still some red in the bar at the top - it's not all green. Why? If the original disc is very big in size the DVD Shrink used algorithm for compression has reached it's limit and can't go lower in compression rate. This is very often the case with music DVDs. It's only the picture that can be reduced in size - the soundtracks can't be reduced in size by DVD Shrink - it only copies the soundtracks." Visit that post/thread for workarounds. Regardless, this isn't an anydvd issue. Quote:
I assume you tried to split/cut video in Clonedvd2 over two discs, correct? Same with Recode? If there's nothing to split or cut, then it's mostly an audio compression issue. Last edited by Webslinger; 09-06-2006 at 04:14.

| Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? you could split to 2 dvd disks with dvd shrink and thus not need copression rip to hard drive use any of your favorite programs then use dvd shrink to open the rip add movie to right side then right click on it and select start/end frames 1) the first disk start=chapter 1; end chapter=pick a middle chapter number then backup to disk call it disk KJB-2A 2)second disk start chapter=pick a middle chapter number+1; end chapter is last chapter, then backup to disk call it disk KJB-2B then burn the above backups to 2 seperate disks |

Why dont you try dvd squeeze, because i fitted a 8.5gb movie onto a 4.5gb disk.So it should work. ********************************************************** If this dosent work ,use super dvd ripper and rip the movie to mpeg-2 , then use flask Mpeg To compress it Then burn to disk using Nero.

| Re: Could ANYDVD be the cause of this problem? There's a freeware program called DVDFab (NOT to be confused with the commercial DVDFab Gold/Express etc.) It will split a DVD9 to two DVD5s for you and keep extras and menus on the first disk and split the main title onto the second disk. DVDShrink can do this as well but DVDFab allows you to do the process in a few clicks. You can download DVDFab here: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdfab/ Instructions can be found on the same page. Doom9 also has a nice howto here: http://www.doom9.org/. Choose Guides, DVD / miniDVD, DVD backup guides, and in the DVD-9 -> 2 DVD±R section click the DVDFab link. |
