Copying Private Philips DVD recorder discs I burnt some discs on my Philips DVD recorder about three years ago and now want to copy them to my hard drive and make back up copies.I have tried DVD Shrink which has worked on discs with only one thumbnail menu but discs with several thumbnail menus show as an error in DVD shrink stating that it dosn't recognise the Navigation system. Can any one reccomend suitable copy software that will enable me to copy my own discs.Or even a way to rip them so that they can be authored in Premier Elements. This is my first posting as I have just joined so would appreciate any advice. I am not a complete novice and run up to date systems and manage my hardrives etc. John

| Re: Copying Private Philips DVD recorder discs I suggest using nero cd dvd speed. Download it, run it and then try to access the disc. Then perform some tests, eg TRT and scanning.

Re: Copying Private Philips DVD recorder discs Thanks. I tried Clone DVD2 and this has worked for most of the discs. I still have some that will not copy with Clone even though it is OK in a normal DVD player. I have some that won't even play in a normal CD player so assume that these will be a permanent problem unless there is some form of ripping that can be done. The philips model is an 880 although I don't use it any more. Thanks for replying John

Re: Copying Private Philips DVD recorder discs John Cooke, Why don't you switch to another DVD Recorder? Philips DVD Recorder is knowed to put some type of encryption on their recorded discs. Try CloneCD it just might work....

Re: Copying Private Philips DVD recorder discs I don't use the Philips for making new copies.I always use good quality media. Clone DVD has allowed me to copy more discs than I was able to before. I still have some discs that will play in normal set top DVD players, I have several different types, but when I try to copy using clone DVD it states that it is an incorrect function. When I try to copy the files by drag/drop it states that it is unable to copy as it dosn't recognise the files. Very frustrating when I can view the original but they don't like the computer. I have also tried using the DVD in the lap top and this gives similar results. Is there some soft ware out there that can read/correct the odvioulsy unusual code that philips seems to use? John
