CloneDVD vs DVDFab Platnum

Friends,

Read the features of both of these and have a couple quick questions. In DVDFab Platnum, one of the feature listed says, "Split a DVD-9 into two DVD discs, and preserve menus on both discs." Whereas CloneDVD is not being specific enough about preserving the menus in both backed up discs in its listed feature: "Chapter trimming/Splitting available", for those of you with experiences with CloneDVD, can it preserve the menus in both of the backup DVDs when we split a DVD9 movie into 2 DVD5? If so, how may one go about doing so?

Thank you,
Techson

@ Techson,

Perchance are you aware that you are posting in the AnyDVD Forum?

Your posting concerns the CloneDVD software program and not the AnyDVD software program.

Below is a Forum link to the AnyDVD-CloneDVD user tutorial that provides detailed information on the use of AnyDVD-CloneDVD.

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?threadid=72022

It also should be noted that the CloneDVD software program contains a detailed CloneDVD user help manual that is accessed by clicking on the ‘Help’ icon located in the top right menu bar of the CloneDVD software program.

Best Regards,
bjkg

Re: CloneDVD vs DVDFab Platnum

bjkg,

Oooops, perhaps, it was earlier morning hours. Kidding aside, initially, I was thinking of AnyDVD vs DVDFab, then I realized that its DVDClone but fail to realize that I was in AnyDVD forum. My apology.

But thank you for your comments and information. I will follow the link you provide and learn what I can. As for the help note from DVDClone, I have yet had the software; still trying to decide which way to go. Any additional comments/recommendation would be most grateful for.

@ Moderator,

If you would kindly help move this thread over to DVDClone, I would be most appreciated.

Best,
Techson

@ Techson,

It is a rather fruitless endover attempting to answer specific questions concerning the CloneDVD software program when the questioner hasn’t even attempted to use the software program.

Suggest visiting SlySoft (http://www.slysoft.com) and downloading the latest versions of the AnyDVD-CloneDVD softwarte program. It should be noted that all SlySoft software are full-featured programs that allow 21-day trial use before requiring registration. This allows the user to fully evaluate these program to ensure that the meet their needs before purchasing.

Best Regards,
bjkg

To answer the simple question: Yes, it can. So, you should download it and try it out.

Re: CloneDVD vs DVDFab Platnum

Tru and bjkg,

Thank you for the information. I have now downloaded CloneDVD. What I found out from the tutorial link posted above and the help menus is that, yes, we can split the titles and preserve the menus but unable to split the chapters in the movie file. Did I miss something or is it simply unable to do so at this point? DVDshrink allows us to split the chapters but not able to retain the menus. I was hoping to not only preserving the menus, split the titles, but also the spliting the chapters of the movie file. If this can be done, please continue with your suggestions.

Best,
Techson

Yes, you miss something. elby CloneDVD2 can split any title at chapter boundaries. I suggest you read the CloneDVD documentation (quite good!) on how to split. To do this, click on "help" in the program. Good luck!

Is that not or now? By the way, you must preserve menus in order to split to 2 discs. Can't do it otherwise.

You can, but you must select the titles / chapters manually. (The "invert for split" option does not work, which should be fixed)
