It was really fun to test AnyDVD when the italian version of Gibson's "The Passion" came out with one of the first ARccOS protections.

You are burning up resources on a title that was backed up the first week it was released.....
James has done a fine job trying to make AnyDVD work with every DVD backup software in existence, but comes a time when we should all realize, that the time has come to transcode with the best program available.....(ConeDVD2) BUY IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT, AND JAME'S TIME WILL BE BETTER SPENT, MAKING ANYDVD, AND CLONEDVD2 EVEN BETTER!

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

I used dvd decrypter on file mode. Then used Vobblanker which I downloaded for free. I clicked on use imput folder. I selected V_8 and clicked on process and vobblanker went to work. Then I used dvd shrink, selected just the movie. Then burned with dvd decrypter. Got a perfect copy. Hope this helps, someone else helped me.

Reading this, i tried downloading CloneDVD2 to see if it was really that good. It seems(if this is not true, please tell me how) that you can only cut whole chapters out of the movie which is a bit weak. When i copy movies i always strip all the menues(i hate DVD menues, never saw the point in them), all the extras, and all audio tracks i dont need. This brings many movies within a few percent of not needing re-encoding, and frequently cutting the end credits and maybe a few of the logos at the beginning can help fit the movie at its original quality. To me, being able to cut the start/end precisely is a must.

I use DVDShrink or Nero Recode(+AnyDVD) from Nero 7 to copy DVD's and for now im sticking to those.

But you've checked the menu option in clonedvd?

CloneDVD2 will allow you to copy movie only, without extras, with plenty of options to copy the audio tracks and subtitles of your choice.(top button) All of this, with the option to preserve menus,(by checking the box) should you desire. (I realize that a lot of people prefer not to, but I think they are a nice touch.)
However, if you are splitting to 2 disks,(clicking on the scissors) you cannot split mid chapter. This is a nice feature as it allows you to preserve menus, edit out the extras, and choose the audio tracks of your choice. I haven't come across a movie yet that didn't record at 100% quality when splitting to 2 disks in this manner. (makes sense if you liken a dual layer disk to actually being 2 disks on one )
I especially like the one clic ease of making an iso image, to be previewed before I burn to disk. (Virtual Clone Drive, also from Elaborate Bytes,is great for doing this, and it's absolutly free)
I have used Nero, and Shrink, and I agree they are good programs, but Any, and CloneDVD2 work together so well, with support problems being solved in hours, they are my first choice getting the job done, and moving on to other tasks, rather having to run a movie through 2 or 3 programs just to get a backup.
And last but not least, adding CloneDvd2 to your options, gives you 1 more tool to use when needed.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

SKY HIGH just out today also is hard to copy like madagascar was, same procedure to copy. I had to run it through VoBlanker after ripping with DVDFAB and then ran shrink and it copies the movie and all menu's etc ok.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

What are the best settings to use for VobBlanker If people have any trouble with AnyDVD, which I know problems would be limited if anything at all ? Any info is much appreciated.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

I would just open up the DVD in vob blanker and output it directly to a folder on the hard drive. No changes. And then try CloneDVD2 on that. I was just recommending that to someone on the sky high thread. You can try it. No guarantees.
