Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

I'd send slysoft an email with the following information:

AnyDVD version
CloneDVD version
AnyDVD info window

And tell them the problem you're having...i.e. "can't rip VTS_08_1.VOB". See what they say. That's pretty whacked.

I wonder, where is the bad sector, because I find something "funny" about PGC 5 of VTS_08 (Title 94)?

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

Oh, no, I was just curious. I have only looked at the movie's IFOs. I do not have the movie, so I did not try to copy it.

I just like to know how these copy protections work.

Come on, it is impossible to improve the program with the information you guys provide here.
Sorry about that, i didn't realize their was a VTS_07_0.VOB and a VTS_07_1.VOB. I figured there would only be one so it would be obvious. I wish i thought of that when i tried to back up the disc, becuase i don't remember which one it was, which obviously is incredibly useless.

Hello Folks,

Perchance have Forum Members who experienced problems making a back up copy of Madagascar tried using the recently released AnyDVD v5.5.5.1 available for download at SlySoft (http://www.slysoft.com)?

Best Regards,

I'm using the new release 5.5.5.1 and I am having the same problem using DVDCopy4 that i had with the previous release, when the program boots it runs the cpu at 100% but never finishes booting when the drive containing madagascar was selected upon shut down (aka its trying to read that on boot). if the program just boots and then madagascar is selected, it runs the cpu at 100% and doesn't do anything except hold on to 130MB of memory.

I tried using DVDFab with the new 5.5.5.1 release also, it took a few tries, but i finally got it to burn a full copy of the disc, which showed the previews then said the disc can not be read on my two set top dvd players when i pressed the top menu button. I used DVDFab to make a movie only copy, and it worked no problem, but in reading previous posts I see that it was already working fine with movie only before this anydvd release.

I tried running the real copy of Madagascar in my set top dvd player and hit menu, and suprise, it doesn't work either. Obviously we can't expect to make a "perfect copy" of something that doesn't work to begin with and expect it work on the way out. I have no idea why it doesn't work right, maybe the brilliance of slysoft will find out why it comes pre-broken for us and work around it to somehow make a perfectly working copy, but thats above and beyond the call of duty.

Oh well.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

Ok I am fairly new at this... but here it goes .... i have anydvd running on my computer I opened Madagascar with decrypter I took the files from the folder and then ran them through VOB Blanker Then I used DVD Shrink. Seemed like a lot of work hahaha but I have a perfect copy .... no problems at all. I even have all the annoying adverts. So if you care to take the time. This does work.

@ polbella,

Make it simple.

Visit SlySoft (http://www.slysoft.com) and download the latest versions of AnyDVD- CloneDVD.

Below is an AnyDVD-CloneDVD user tutorial, which provides detailed information on the use of these two software programs.

Although it is always a good idea to test the newest AnyDVD version, v5.5.5.1 has no improvements regarding Rip Lock/Madagascar. v5.5.5.1 only fixes false "Chapter Lock" detection. We are still waiting for our original disc to arrive. There are many contradicting statements: some users claim, AnyDVD & CloneDVD copy it fine, some have a read error in VTS_08_1.VOB (yes, the protection is there), some can copy the whole disc with AnyDVD to harddisk. It doesn't make sense to try a fix without the physical disc.

Thank you for the IFOs. They were identical to those I already have. I do not understand, why you receive a read error, while others do not.
Unfortunately nobody has sent IFOs for the Full Screen version, maybe there is the difference?

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

James, I'd wager a guess on this one that some of the discs contain production errors causing the originals to have problems, as well. Just a guess, though.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

James,

I'm sure that if you contacted Dreamworks, and simply told them what you are doing, they would rush you out a complimentary copy of the Madagascar DVD

I buy and recieve my originals fast through Amazon and/or retail store. I often pay for overnight delivery or 1day with amazon. Or they actually have and ship the DVD days before the official release but timed to be recieved on the designated day of release. For instance, I should get the 4-Disk "King Kong Collection Edition" (King Kong 1933) in today or tomorrow's mail. But maybe Slysoft's procurement or requisition/purchasing order procedure process is a slow bottleneck as it is in many companies.

With this and other future releases, perhaps some of us with faster, broadband uplinks (my Comcast is a slow uplink/fast downlink) could send you the entire Video TS folder. Maybe to an FTTP site you designate. Or is there a liability to doing that? BTW, are you safe ... in Antigua perhaps?

Thanks for being so visible for us lately.

Best regards,
Whisperer

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

Not sure what the big fuss is about.
On a WINDOWS 98 SE machine with a LG GSA-4160B using ANYDVD 5.5.1.1 and CLONEDVD 2.8.5.1 a PERFECT "BACKUP" was made of this movie. All menus and extras play just fine.

The movie is a regoin 1 from Canada.

Was not done on MY computer, but it WAS done.
