i backed up war of the worlds R1 using anydvd 5.5.1.1 (before the most recent batch of updates) and dvd shrink and didn't have any problems. have you tried copying the VIDEO_TS folder to your hard drive? I'm pretty sure anydvd can tackle this one. also have you tried making a movie only copy? I don't remember if i copied the full disc or just the movie. I'll check for you in a bit. | |

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :( Never used Clone DVD before so I just followed the instructions and it did it all for me. All I set was the language part and let it go. I was surprised it worked though, as I had almost given up.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :( I have the newest version (5.5.4.1) of AnyDvd, and I usually use DVDCopy4 to backup my dvds. If Madagascar is in the drive when the program loads, or if the disc is inserted, DVDCopy runs 100% cpu and i have to kill the process. Nero recode also crashes, I forgot to check what the CPU usage looked like. This is what AnyDvd shows for disc info: Summary for drive F: (AnyDVD 5.5.4.1)I know Slysoft is all about rapid deployment of fixes for new and useless protection schemes, what kind of a time table are we all looking at here? -Justin

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :( exploring 'madagascar' hi...i have successfully used the newest version of anydvd....and clonedvd 2 (the one's available on slysoft's website 11-19-05) working together to backup 'madagascar'......everything works in the root menu.....the title menu does not work on my copy...or even on the original dvd for that matter....playine either with cyberlink or windvd on my pc......maybe it's just not suppose to work anyway??....i've noticed on a standalone player the disc starts automatically with previews.....but if i enter root menu....i'm at the menu (root) with all of the options........and the disc plays just fine...... ------------------------ other methods i have tried.... i usually back up a dvd using only anydvd, in the background, with dvd shrink..........i couldn't do it this time because of a cycle redundency error.....i'm not sure if the disc is bad, but i suspect it is...it looked extremely dirty....with minor scratches so i tried cleaning it, with the same results.....i then used vob blanker on my harddrive files...and then shrink and it went through fine as a image file.....then i burned that image....with a good copy........no title menu though....i still think this is not suppose to work.... someone mention dvdfab platnium......yes i tried that too......but shrink wouldn't handle it....had to use vob blanker for shrink to accept those hard drive files....made into a image then burned successfully.......no title menu though... ------------------------------------- the long and short of this post is that anydvd and clonedvd 2, with no hassles, when used together....newest versions....will make a copy of this dvd that plays good....minus a title option feature when playing back on a pc......

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :( James, You can make a working copy of 'Movie Only' using CloneDVD, but to copy the whole movie with Menu's it locks up on the file listed below. I tried copying all the files to my HD with AnyDVD running and all files copy/pasted fine except VTS_08_1.VOB This file locked my PC up hard when I tried to transfer it over and also locked up a few DVD Copy Programs. I will send you my IFO's for Madagascar ASAP.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :( I would first like to thank everyone for the reponse on the problem with backing up my Madagascar disk. I was not able to back up the disk using AnyDVD. I did follow the suggestions that you kind folks gave me. I removed ANYDVD from my system completely. Rebooted the computer. Redownloaded 5.5.4.1 and reinstalled on my system. I tried again to copy the disk onto my hardrive. It still failed at VTS_08_1.VOB. Gave me CRC errors. I tried DVDD and a straight copy off the disk. Failed both times. I then read that you could use DVDD alone and the run the files through VOBBlanker and that would work. And the answer is yes. When I decrypted the disk with DVDD It found the bad sectors and inserted dummy sector in it place. As a test I ran the files through Shrink and I got the following error "Invalid data in file". So then I ran the files through VOB Blanker and then to Shrink and that worked. I tested the backup and all the menus work. In conclusion I think there is still a problem with ANYDVD and this dvd anyway. I'm not trying to sound like I am dumping on the software. The support from Slysoft and the people on this forum is nothing short of outstanding in my book. I thought I would pass what I have learned on. Thanks Bol

I too love anydvd but it does fail in some cases. That is why I use different programs for decrypting if the need arises as with this movie! I am seeing posts on different forums that people are unable to get a full working copy when using anydvd and pretty much all other popular copy programs. I'm sure the folks at SLYSOFT will get this matter sorted in a few days!
