Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

It's weird that the way I did it (look back into one of my last posts) and the entire movie works flawlessly. I even encoded the disc using DVDRebuilder with CCE (full version) to keep every menu option and still have decent quality and every menu option worked without any problems. I could not get the disc to fail on any DVD player I had. Which that includes 4 PC-DVD Roms (PowerDVD, WinDVD), Denon 2910 and 3910, Pioneer 583 (I think that's the model) universal DVD player, and two Sony DVD players (not sure their models).

So I would think the way I did it, it works.

CloneDVD with AnyDVD 5.5.4.1 worked flawlessly for me as well.

Good job with the updates SlySoft!!!!

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

Now you know why I always process the DVD with CloneDVD2 FIRST, even when using DVD-RB to recompress the disc. CloneDVD2 tends to fix any structural problems so that the other programs can deal with it. At least that's been the case for me. If I'm going to recompress with DVD-RB, I just set CloneDVD2 to DVD+R DL to turn compression off and let it go to town on the DVD. It's worked every time. I don't have this disc to try it but I plan on picking it up sometime in the near future.

Hello,

I've ripped the movie using 5.5.4.1 along with VobBlanker. I can play the movie and the extras on the DVD. The only thing is if I select "title menu" the movie stops. If I select "root menu" I get the movie selection. The latest version 5541, won't completely rip the movie. Hopefully soon.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

use pgcedit and open up the VMG title menu, which is accessed when you hit the "title" button. What commands are in there?

Same thing happened to me when trying to copy the whole movie...Could copy over all files except the VTS_08_1.VOB with AnyDVD running. My PC Hard-Locked on this file. I did however successfully copy all the files to my HD with AnyDVD 5.5.4.1 running and using Super DVD Copy 2.28, but noticed the filesize of VTS_08_1.VOB changed from 1,073,739,776 bytes to 1,065,885,696 bytes, but movie seems to work fine except when you try to access the Title Menu in PowerDVD it will lock. I am going to go watch the other previews and stuff now to see if they all work ok, but that VTS_08_1.VOB is definately where the problem lies.

BTW, CloneDVD did work for Movie-Only but not whole Movie w/Menu. First time I could'nt backup a DVD with CloneDVD but I am sure we will see a update soon that will take care of this problem. Slysoft Rocks!

DVDFab has a new version out for this movie - (11/18/2005) Version 2.9.5.8 Updated!

* Change: Added support for a new protection as found on "Madagascar" (US).
It's not a Sony movie, but the protection is almost same with Sony ARccOS.

I up dated AnyDVD to 5.5.4.1. and used DVD XCOPY (express) and it still won't work. It still freezes and comes up with errors. It is "Dreamworks" so does this mean no "War Of The Worlds" either or any other Dreamworks DVD?

War of the World isn't released in the USA until next week, I will bet there is an update before then. Slysoft is the best.

i backed up war of the worlds R1 using anydvd 5.5.1.1 (before the most recent batch of updates) and dvd shrink and didn't have any problems.

have you tried copying the VIDEO_TS folder to your hard drive? I'm pretty sure anydvd can tackle this one.

also have you tried making a movie only copy? I don't remember if i copied the full disc or just the movie. I'll check for you in a bit.

Complete success! It was real easy once I tried Clone DVD along with Any DVD. It did the whole movie and the extras no problem. Slysoft rocks!

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

How did you do it? Did you burn from DVD to DVD or from DVD to Hard Drive to DVD? Were there any specific settings you had on or off with CloneDVD and AnyDVD? I was able to just get the main movie as well.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

Never used Clone DVD before so I just followed the instructions and it did it all for me. All I set was the language part and let it go.
I was surprised it worked though, as I had almost given up.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

I have the newest version (5.5.4.1) of AnyDvd, and I usually use DVDCopy4 to backup my dvds. If Madagascar is in the drive when the program loads, or if the disc is inserted, DVDCopy runs 100% cpu and i have to kill the process. Nero recode also crashes, I forgot to check what the CPU usage looked like. This is what AnyDvd shows for disc info:
Summary for drive F: (AnyDVD 5.5.4.1)
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)

Video DVD (or CD) label: MADAGASCAR
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!

RCE protection not found.
Found & removed wrong DVD structure!
Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)!
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
Found & removed 1 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!
I know Slysoft is all about rapid deployment of fixes for new and useless protection schemes, what kind of a time table are we all looking at here?

No, it means, that you need to put DVDXCopy where it belongs (in the trashcan) and start using some decent software like elby CloneDVD2: http://www.slysoft.com

I tried this on Madagascar since everything else seemed to freeze up and it worked! All my files were the same size and the copy plays fine in all my players. First time I had to resort to another program to successfully copy a DVD. I will still use AnyDVD & CloneDVD for all my backup needs, but Madagascar seems to be a tough one. I am sure Slysoft will find a workaround soon.

Try dragging the VIDEO_TS folder to your hard drive in windows explorer and once the copy is finished then try using CloneDVD2 on the files off the hard drive. It SHOULDN'T be necessary to do that but in some cases it may help.

Re: cant rip Madagascar DVD PLEASE HELP! :(

exploring 'madagascar'

hi...i have successfully used the newest version of anydvd....and clonedvd 2 (the one's available on slysoft's website 11-19-05) working together to backup 'madagascar'......everything works in the root menu.....the title menu does not work on my copy...or even on the original dvd for that matter....playine either with cyberlink or windvd on my pc......maybe it's just not suppose to work anyway??....i've noticed on a standalone player the disc starts automatically with previews.....but if i enter root menu....i'm at the menu (root) with all of the options........and the disc plays just fine......

------------------------

other methods i have tried....

i usually back up a dvd using only anydvd, in the background, with dvd shrink..........i couldn't do it this time because of a cycle redundency error.....i'm not sure if the disc is bad, but i suspect it is...it looked extremely dirty....with minor scratches so i tried cleaning it, with the same results.....i then used vob blanker on my harddrive files...and then shrink and it went through fine as a image file.....then i burned that image....with a good copy........no title menu though....i still think this is not suppose to work....

someone mention dvdfab platnium......yes i tried that too......but shrink wouldn't handle it....had to use vob blanker for shrink to accept those hard drive files....made into a image then burned successfully.......no title menu though...

-------------------------------------

the long and short of this post is that anydvd and clonedvd 2, with no hassles, when used together....newest versions....will make a copy of this dvd that plays good....minus a title option feature when playing back on a pc......

"vob7" is not helpful. Please specify the *exact* filename, e.g. VTS_07_1.VOB
Come on, it is impossible to improve the program with the information you guys provide here.
