Re: Buttman Begins

@ moviefanatic,

Welcome to the Forum.

If you are expecting a meaningful response from Forum Members you are going need to provide some basic information.

What software programs are using to make your back copy of your DVD? In seeing that you are posting in the AnyDVD Forum it is assumed that you are using the AnyDVD software program. To avoid any confusion provide the Name and Version of the software programs you are using to back of your DVD.

Exactly what action are you performing when you experience your problem? Also provide the exact error notification or error code that you are receiving when attempting to make your back of copy.

Also provide the Name of the original commercial DVD Title that you are making a back up copy of.

Best Regards,
bjkg

Did you mean "Batman Begins", or is this some sort of porn flick?

Re: Batman Begins

Sorry. CloneDVD 2.8.5.1 and AnyDVD 5.4.4.1

I tried CloneDVD with Menu's added and tried just the movie itself and I got

this same "Processing error: G:/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_4.VOB: read error

Data error (cycic redundany check).

It gets up to about 50% then error appears.

Thanks for taking this time to look at this I appreciate your fast response.

Oh yeah. About the name. It's really Batman Begins. Not a porn flick. lol.

Re: Buttman Begins

moviefanatic,

This may or may not be your problem exactly, but DMA issues have caused me a few different problems, some similar to the error you're getting. Thankfully I'm able to take care of the issues when they arise. You may end up having to edit your registry somewhat to resolve the error problem, but then again, maybe not. But just to be safe, check your DMA settings in device manager.

Just incase, here's you a link.....

Re: Buttman Begins

I am 95% sure the problem you are experiencing is due to defective original.
Although the movie is not out for release yet in the USA until Tuesday October 18,
I know some people with friends in the right places can get them on Thursdays prior to the release date. If this is the case just exchange it for another one and hopefully you will be oK.
Sometimes there are lots produced that are all defective, I remember one poster stating he returned 3 and was convinced it was the software of Clone and AnyDVD until he tried the 4th, which burned properly without the cycle redundancy error.

Re: Buttman Begins

@ moviefanatic,

Suggest viewing the below Forum posting concerning CRC (cyclic redundancy check) errors. Note Olli’s comments in posting #6 on the three possible reasons for Cyclic Redundancy Check data error notification.

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=138522

Of the three possible causes that Olli (Original author of CloneCD and CloneDVD Author) state that cause CRC (cyclic redundancy check) errors the most likely cause is poorly manufactured defect original DVD disk.

Just because this suspect original DVD disk appears to play correctly in some DVD playback devices does not mean that the DVD is not defective. Suggest returning this suspect DVD and ask for a refund or a replacement.

I seriously doubt that DMA setting will cause Cyclic Redundancy Check data error notifications in the CloneDVD software program. If you are concerned about DMA settings suggest viewing the below Forum Posting and note Forum Member ireland’s (posting #4) comments concerning setting DMA.

I wouldn't go out and buy new burners based on your experience with your friends laptop based on one movie. Try other movies other than Batman Begins and see if you continue to receive the cyclic redundancy check data error.

Re: Buttman Begins

It also might behoove you to check if there is a new firmware for your burner. Yes, burners are cheap, but, why throw one out if it can be easily fixed?

Re: Buttman Begins

@ moviefanatic,

Suggest that you re-read my comments in posting #13 in this thread concerning the ability of some playback devices to read a DVD while some other playback devices are unable to read the same exact DVD. Some DVD devises are just better reader than others.

As suggested by Forum Member SamuriHL I would check to see if newer up to date firmware is available for your DVD Burner before rushing off and purchasing a new DVD Burner. If newer up to date firmware is available for your DVD Burner suggest up dating you DVD Burner firmware and check to see if this corrected your problem before rushing off and purchasing a new DVD Burner. If you are determined to purchase a new DVD Burner strongly suggest visiting the CD Freaks Optical Drives Forum (http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=61) and do some research before making your purchase to ensure that you purchase a good reliable DVD Burner.

Also suggest using Nero CD-DVD Speed (http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroCDSpeed_401.zip) and perform a ScanDisc surface scan on the suspect Buttman Begins DVD to confirm if in fact the DVD does contains CRC (cyclic redundancy check) errors. If the Nero CD-DVD Speed ScanDisc surface scan reveals that the Buttman Begins DVD contains CRC (cyclic redundancy check) errors the Buttman Begins DVD is in fact defective and that there isn’t anything wrong with your DVD Bruner. In short you need to do some more trouble shooting before jumping to the conclusion that you have a broken DVD Burner and need to purchase a new one.

bjkg

Re: Buttman Begins

Just backed up Batman Begins Region 2 PAL.

Using AnyDVD 5.4.4.1 and CloneDVD2 2.8.5.1 I got the same error as in post #5. Cleaned the disc and tried to just drag and drop the Video_TS folder onto my hard drive and it failed again at the same VOB.

I then tried DVDDecrypter using the File Mode and the I/O set to ElbyCDIO and it worked no problem - then used CloneDVD2 to shrink the movie and burn it.

So, my questions is, what mode does CloneDVD2 use to read the disc? Is it ElbyCDIO or SPTI?

ElbyCDIO, of course! (But it doesn't matter, AnyDVD works with SPTI as well)
Did you click the retry button several times? This could have resolved the problem with CloneDVD.
