| Brothers Grimm I tried ripping the Brothers Grimm to my hard drive because I wanted to use a batch encode in DVD Rebuilder. I have the trial of the newest AnyDVD and have EbyCDIO for the I/O method and have check for structural protection disabled in DVD Decrypter. I used file mode to my hard drive and when I analyzed the files using DVD Shrink to make sure they were okay, I received an error about some invalid file. Can someone tell me how to get DVD Decrypter working? I just want to copy the entire movie to my HD and remove protection in the process. |

| Re: Brothers Grimm The problem is an error, probably pack header, that Shrink cannot get past. CloneDVD can process these files without re-ripping provided that the AnyDVD version you have is recent. Possibly other programs will write these file as well. Welcome to the forum.

normally a ripping program is recommended, but if you're having trouble, windows explorer can most of the time do the trick. clonedvd2 has never given me an issue in conjunction with anydvd though.

| Re: Brothers Grimm I was just using DVD Shrink to analyze the files to make sure they work. I wasn't going to encode using that. |

EDIT: OH! you're saying shrink still won't process them!. it's the structure issue that ripguard causes. clonedvd will most certainly work (that's what i used to back this disc up) or I imagine running the files through vobblanker will fix the structure issues and make them workable in dvd shrink (i haven't tried this though)

| Re: Brothers Grimm Again, I tried three methods of moving these files to the HD and one file still had errors, I think VOB 4_1 or 1_4. Shrink would not read it no matter which way it was copied. CloneDVD would. If something other than Clone will read this it will not be Shrink. I too uses Shrink to check the rip and this is the first time in many, many rips where it has not worked and Clone has. Usually it was the other way around but not this time.

| Re: Brothers Grimm I guess I'm just sad to stop using DVD Decrypter becasue I love the quickness of it and how it makes a folder on the HD using the movie name. I realize I can make the folder, but I'm stuborn. I just wished DVD Fab Decrypter was nearly as handy as it. |

| Re: Brothers Grimm You won't have to stop using Decrypter as the latest AnyDVD (out yesterday) has addressed this issue and even though the errors will be reported, the problem has been fixed. In any case, CloneDVD is well worth the price and the benefits of a coordination between ANYDVD and Clone are more than worth the priice.

I was thinking using vobblanker to point to the disc in the drive as the input and output it to your hard drive. once those are processed, my intuition tells me they can probably be loaded into shrink. just trying to come up with a free solution, since I dont' think the original poster has clonedvd. clonedvd is, however, admittedly the EASIEST way to do it. I have it and use it for everything and it's well worth the money.

if so, try my VOBblanker method. just select the folder that the files are in as input, create a new folder for output and click process (no need to bother with anythin else) note: the files don't already have to be on the hard drive for this. you can just point the input folder to the dvd drive rather than ripping first... then try to load the new batch of files into dvd shrink (or dvd rebuilder, or wherever) i'm fairly confident this will work. you can dl vobblanker here if you're willing to try this method.
