I have no idea what I have! Came stock in my emachines T5224. On a side note I did that ISSA2005 did exactly. I bought a NEC 7170 and installed it last night. Seems to work better with AnyDVD. I'll have to check the ripping performance in the next couple of days. Thanks again for the help.
Ok, thanks for the extra info. but I did it mean the manufacture of the drive by chance besides the model number?

It says in really small print at the bottom of the label:

Philips & Benq digital storage corporation. I didn't see that before.

iv hooked a ide to sata converteronto the nec 7170.. (jbmicro 330) and it faster... with the buffer never going below 96% writing + ripping.

Yes it's been awhile. Did LL06(?) firmware help out at all for this drive?

Re: AnyDVD not compatible with LiteOn 20A1H?

FYI, firmware LL07 is now available:

http://www.liteonit.com/global/APPS/...oduct=LH-20A1H

I just flashed, too early to tell if the ripping issues have been fixed. The Lightscribe issues seem like they may have been fixed.

Re: AnyDVD not compatible with LiteOn 20A1H?

I did download and updated the firmware with LL07 but nothing better happened. I did use the lite on software firmware to use hyperwriting and overspeed affect reading of anime dvd? I know of two DVD that will refuse to read the media? Did anyone have the same issues? I emailed liteon but still have yet to receive any answer to my questions. I do have nero 6 and anydvd and Incd running so does one of these software affect the reading of the media but as I said before only certain dvd media refuses to read but other will read just perfectly? I have a 20A1H LL07.

Re: AnyDVD not compatible with LiteOn 20A1H?

That's so odd I have yet to see a reply from James or Slysoft or from Olli about the problems users been having with certain lite on drives? I have a liteon 20A1H internal LL07 drive and seem to have problem reading certain dvd media but will read others? So will james or slysoft tell us what if any problems currently exists with Anydvd or the lite on drives firmware?

I do know that most people have a conflict with Incd and backup programs. Most remove it.

I had rev LL06 firmware on mine, when I burned a Lightscribe label then burned a dvd movie with Nero burning-rom it was locked in at 6x burning speed (this is the speed it burns lightscribe labels),..did not matter what type of media, I use TY and Verbatim 16x +R media.
Would have to reboot puter to be able to increase burning speeds.
I updated to the LL07 and this problem was sovled,..tha'ts the only difference I have found,...AnyDVD will still not work with this drives firmware unless I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 together.
I have other compression and encoding programs that work with AnyDVD on my other burners but not the new 20x litie.

Re: AnyDVD not compatible with LiteOn 20A1H?

Odd thing is I switched to my old 832S drive and was able to read the dvd that my 20A1H drive wasn't able to read? Also the software settings including Incd was left as is installed so to test the drive for function and surprise to me it was able to read in the 832S drive while the 20A1H wasn't able to? Also both have latest firmware updated. I think there is some hardware or firmware flaw in my 20A1H that is preventing proper reading of dvd media. Why I think so cause I check out dvd media of the same media brand had the same problem. So I can only conclude from my limited test there is leading toward so kind of hardware or firmware flaw.

Re: AnyDVD not compatible with LiteOn 20A1H?

I am also having this problem. I use anydvd 6.1.3.3 + dvd shrink.

some recent titles ive tried
- cheech & chong - up in smoke (very old title)
- futurama season
- thundercats season 1

None of the discs will rip for more than a second before I get an encryption error.

The problem affects both of my lite-ons.

Has anyone tried reformatting yet? I may be soon.

Have to ask what problem was solved and what dvd media did you burn that you had success with? Like what was the dvd that you burned?

Re: AnyDVD not compatible with LiteOn 20A1H?

AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 are a perfect match. The Shrink problem is not going to disappear with most of the new Sony titles, I just tried " Pursuit of Happyness" and it won't work with Shrink either. but AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 made a perfect backup.

Do not bother reformating, the problem is the new firmware on the latest Lite-on 18x and 20x drives.
It doesn't even matter if a movie has no protection,..if you have AnyDVD enabled and running to do it's thing when the new litie picks up anydvd it will make Shrink give you a error code.
There is nothing wrong with the drive it is just simply a conflict between Anydvd and the new Lite-on high speed drives.
I've ran countless tests, it won't even work with a disk that has already been copied if AnyDVD is running.

It was a Lightscribe problem.
If you burned a lightscribe label and then burn a movie without rebooting,.. it would only burn a 6x no matter what you set the burn rate at,..didn't matter what brand media,...lightscribe label burn at 6x and would lock the litey at 6x unless yu rebooted your puter.
Which if you read my post,..is exactly what I said.

Re: AnyDVD not compatible with LiteOn 20A1H?

I have the shw-160p6s and the newest firmware, also the LiteOn 20A1H with newest firmware. use latest anydvd and shrink will get error in the encoding as soon as it starts saying can't read sector because it's encrypted. If i deselect use nero to burn it works ok. Is the problem nero?

Posting what software version will go along way to help solve problems. Just giving the name "anydvd" and "shrink" doesn't tell us what version your using? Also what does anydvd give for the info on the media? What dvd are you decrypting?
