try using k9copy (if you want to rip DVDs)

install libcss2 and vlc for playback

There is no problem to play DVDs in Linux, with programs like Totem, Kaffeine ( both powered by Xine engine) Mplayer, VLC, etc...

The problem appear when try to RIP newest encrypted DVDs, there isn't programs capable to do this. Now is IMPOSSIBLE in Linux and we need programs like ANY DVD, for decrypt the newest protections.

Reasons like this and many others is why I feel Linux will never be a juggernaut as far as market share unless there is a big change.

I bet it never happens, at least not in this decade.

The problem is that nobody with the right knowledge cares (to much money to be made?).
As it would be quite simple to build a fuse (Filesystem in Userspace) module to mount a dvd and decrypt/de-protect on-the-fly.
