| Re: AnyDVD is falling behind in some respects. I'm also going to chime in on first copying the DVD over to the hard drive (with AnyDVD running) and then running Shrink/Recode 2 off of that. In the past I have always just opened Shrink or Recode 2 and edited/compressed/analyzed/encoded straight from the DVD disk. I always was a bit leary of doing that because I figured with all this going on, reading straight from the DVD (vs the hard drive) was going to be more error prone. One little burp from the laser during this process could result in some problems. Well I had my first one. I did this with Red Eye and while watching the movie, I got a lot of skipping. I NEVER get skipping, I have a very good DVD player. I tossed the disk, copied movie over to hard drive this time, ran Shrink and this time no problems whatsoever. For all this complaining, try this first and then complain if it doesn't solve the problem. I personally have had Shrink only fail to accept one movie (and I burn lots) using AnyDVD. An update promptly fixed it and I have had no further issues. I also favor Shrink and Recode 2 (Shrink is my first choice simply cause Recode 2 doesn't currently work with 2 drives). I just don't care much for CloneDVD2. If they added some features that the other two have, I would use it exclusively but dunno if that's going to happen. Personally with all the ongoing changes being made on copy protection/structure on DVD movies, I don't really know how anyone can expect to have just one program anyway. Ripping programs are always on a constant state of updates to get something out to rip a new protection. I have AnyDVD, DVDFab, and DVD Decrypter (with PfcEdit plugin). If one doesn't work on one particular movie, I still have other choices to get the job done. AnyDVD has been my primary choice since I bought and used it. Since it's been on my computer, I have not had to use the other two (but still keep them updated just in case).

| Re: AnyDVD is falling behind in some respects. Bilbo65 I was the original person that started this thread, and I did mention the program Any DVD was falling behind to is dvd region+css free. The issue again is out of memory "only with dvdshrink and nero recode" when backing up the newer ripguard movies ie madagascar, brothers grim, great raid, venom, underclassman, flightplan these are all the ones I know of, I'm sure there is more. DVD Fengtao Software Inc. had this issue resolved back on 12/18/2005. Changelog The issue should of been fixed in this version: 2.9.6.6 (12/28/2005) - Change: Improved copying engine, hopefully you don't need to post-process with VobBlanker or FixVTS anymore. - Change: Fixed DVD Shrink "Out of memory" error when copying some new released DVDs, like "Valiant" (US). I'm not trying to start anything, here I love AnyDvd and have never had a problem with it till these new ripguard protected movies came out. I love the support we get when a problem is found and how quick they are to update their program. When using dvd region+css free I don't have this problem. I emailed slysoft support with this issue and their response was this would have to be resolved by the dvdshrink team. I replied back with how I hope this was not their final response because I know it can be fixed as their competition has already done so. I don't have a history with this other program as I do anydvd so I really don't know how reliable it is but I will use until Anydvd has a fix for this. |

| Re: AnyDVD is falling behind in some respects. I always do movie only. I'm one of those simpleton guys. I want to pop in the DVD, watch the movie, pop it out. I could care less for all the other crap that Hollywood thinks is interesting.
