AnyDVD 6.1.4.1. beta

Hi
Courtesy of James & co.
Download here:

http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/SetupAnyDVD6141.exe

Changes:

http://sandbox.slysoft.com/beta/changes_anydvd.txt

6.1.4.1 2007 05 02
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper rewritten from scratch. It is no
longer based on FixVTS code but on the powerful copy engine of
CloneDVD2, licensed from Elaborate Bytes AG. If you want more
control (stream selection, main movie only selection, ...) we
recommend elby CloneDVD2 available at http://www.slysoft.com
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper can now handle heavily protected discs
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper output is now fully compatible with
DVD Shrink and Nero Recode
- New (DVD): Protection removal of AnyDVD core is more compatible
with DVD Shrink and Nero Recode. Some heavily protected discs
like "Perfume" (R2, German) can now directly opened with Shrink
without prior ripping to harddisk.
- New (DVD): Added support for new copy protections to the option to
remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
- New (Blu-ray): Improved detection / removal of region code
Multi region (e.g. Region A+C) discs are now handled correctly
in "automatic" region removal mode
- Change: Workaround for registration problem on Windows Vista
- Change: Removed AnyDVD ripper shortcut
- Fix: Title 10 of "Perfume", R2, German was damaged
- Some minor fixes and improvements
- Updated languages

Have fun testing it!

And Shrink users have hope of a decent ripping solution without being required to purchase CloneDVD. Those Slysoft guys are truly awesome!

HOPEFULLY this will stop some of the criticism of Slysoft. So many people bagged on Slysoft because they dared to suggest that CloneDVD be used as a ripper(and they still do as it gives you more control, but, anyway)...people felt they were just pushing another expensive product down their throats. This should put that fear to rest. And the way this ripper is built is pure genius. Shrink/Recode users have much to celebrate with its release.

Hint...it's still beta. He JUST released it a few hours ago. But yes, I'm testing it as we speak. I just happened to notice a few things about it when I was using it a little while ago. We all have much to be appreciative about.

Well there's such a gap between 6.1.3.6 and 6.1.4.1 is was wondering if others were testing for James

Good question. No, I didn't get to test any special versions. In fact, he kept me in the dark on this one as I was paging him over the weekend to let him know about another method of fixing the DVD Shrink problem within AnyDVD and he never mentioned this at all. I can't says that I blame him. Afterall, he DID tell us all that he was working on it and that he wanted very badly to use the CloneDVD ripping code. It would seem he got his wish which is *GREAT* news for all of us. Granted I own all the Slysoft products personally, so, I just usually rip with CloneDVD anyway, but, for those Shrink owners that felt put off by the "buy CloneDVD" answer, I think this is absolutely fantastic.

Not on the latest German titles, you don't. The Protect DVD Video copy protection as found on Das Parfum breaks R4M and (currently) DVD Fab, as well. You'll notice in the changelog for this AnyDVD beta that you can open those discs directly with Shrink/Recode using this version of AnyDVD. I consider that quite impressive. And the AnyDVD "ripper" is based on EXTREMELY mature code...how often do you hear problems with people using CloneDVD and AnyDVD together? I'm not saying never, but, it's rare and almost always fixed very quickly. Well, the AnyDVD ripper code is now based upon the ripping engine from CloneDVD...hence, you won't hear too many complaints I think.

P.S. Notice I didn't say get rid of R4M...it's still valuable.

I'm going to load 6.1.4.1 beta up and see how it runs (testing) for a few days.

Re: AnyDVD 6.1.4.1. beta

Can someone with a later Sony title (Pursuit of Happyness, Casino Royale, Grudge 2, Saw3, etc) try to do a stupid thing for me? Try to open the disc directly with the latest version of recode and see what happens. For me it continuously tries to read the disc until Recode finally locks up and I have to kill it. Not that you should be doing that in the first place...I was simply curious.

I don't have Nero Recode sorry I don't even have Nero on my machine at all here. I don't use it.

I suspect Shrink has the same issue. It's when it tries to initially analyze the DVD that I'm seeing the problem. It should simply fail and give us an error back but I think AnyDVD is trying too hard to give Shrink/Recode the disc. There's no way it can succeed doing those discs directly off the DVD...

That's a bit different. I had no problem with the ripper before I updated CloneDVD2. Ripped Pursuit of Happyness(my favorite messed up disc) with no problems at all. Hey, as long as it's working for you, good enough. LOL!

A lot can be said about copy protections...but I'll spare my comments not to violate any forum rule here...
For your information SamuriHL, I suggest you to use google and find "copies" of your "German" titles.

Now that we talk about advanced copy protection it's worth to mention "HD" DVD's where tools like MKV**** will make almost everything possible.

BTW SamuriHL, hope this is more then a AnyDVD promotion tour.

ROFLMAO! I share that opinion, I'm sure.

I'm only basing my opinion on things I've read. If my information about those titles is inaccurate, I'd love to be corrected. I don't live in region 2 so I'm not bothered by this protection currently.

I use AnyDVD HD for decrypting my HD-DVD's so that I can play them on my video machine that does not have HDCP compliant hardware. Not had a problem yet.

I'm not sure what you mean by that one. I'm a huge fan of all Slysoft products and promote them quite heavily to people who want to back up their stuff with ease. That's not to say other products don't have their place and uses, but, this being the AnyDVD forum, well, yes, I'm promoting AnyDVD here.

@Da Sheep!

Did you restart after installing this version of AnyDVD? (I know, it wasn't required to do so, but, just wondering). If not, try it and see if that helps. Also, did you update to the CloneDVD2 beta, as well? (I ASSUME so from your post but want to make sure). If not, try that, as well.

Re: AnyDVD 6.1.4.1. beta

Guys, this is important. From James on the Slysoft forum:

Quote:
Congratulations go to SamuriHL, who found the first bug in the new DVD ripper:
It will abort with a "FileIO 1" error, if the Volume label of the disc to copy has spaces at the end. An example is "The Queen", R1.
Be very careful if you copy a disc with an empty volume label!
If the rip is aborted and you are asked, if the created files should be deleted, answer with "NO"!
Otherwise a lot of files from your harddisk may be deleted!
I already fixed it, next beta will be available soon.
Please be careful!!
