| problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer I am having a little problem copying xbox 360 backups. I am using Nero 6.6 and all of the games are being burnt successfully but not all of them are playing. All of the 360 backups that I am copying from work fine. I am using a Asus E616A2 DVD-rom reader and a Pioneer DVR-111D writer. I am currently using Datasafe discs, but I have used Ridisc before. Please can anyone tell me what the problem is? thankyou. | Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer another thing...sometimes when I have the game inserted into the asus reader and go into my computer and click on d: it says "windows cannot read this disk. The disk might be corrupted etc.." but then when I have another game inserted it will say "d: XBOX 360" and I can click on it and view the files for the game. |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer I would suggest.... Use only the PIONEER 111d To READ and WRITE the disk. Use CLONE CD. Do not to Disk to Disk... Send the image to the hard drive, and then burn it. Also... I have found that if you want it to work.. use VERBATIM disks. |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer The 111d automatically uses the DVD-ROM book type when you use the +R DL discs.... it can't be manually changed via DVD Info Pro... but it doesn't matter since it will use the high compatibility bitsetting anyhow. |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer 360 backups dont work unless theyre bitset to dvd-rom, but the pioneer does that anyway. stick with verbatim as the datasafe ones dont work too well.. |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer Nero has problems with layer gap, use Clonecd or Imgburn nothing else works. Only use Verbatim +R DL anything else is a waste of cash and time. With regards to other media from what I read, you have a 1 in 3 chance of getting a sucessful backup those odds are bad considering the small price difference of cheaper +R DL media ![]() |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer Of course -R can't be bitset because it is already "hardcoded" on the media when produced.

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer So basically.... Don't use Datasafe, well...any brand other than Verbatim to be honest. These discs need to be read at a high speed constantly streaming data. Verbatim discs are the only ones that will consistently provide a smooth read at all times. You'll be ok some of the time with other discs, but you'll get problems FOR SURE. You sound like your pirating the games, I won't comment on that, but if you are then your customers won't be too happy in a couple of weeks time when they're cheap nasty backups have 1 or 2 little scratches and refuse to run due to cheap media. Anyway's the reason for not booting is generally that you haven't used the right program to copy them. CloneCD 2.8.9.1 and higher will copy them fine 1:1 - You don't have to use the pioneer, I have an A-Card 1:3 duplicator and thats got the same reader you mention, I can copy the games no problem. ImgBurn\DVD Decrypter, can be used but you need to modify the LayerBreak, in the options of the programs to the common value all 360 games use, can't remember it off hand, but if you've downloaded these "backups" (I don't do this I just know abit about it so don't ever start anyone) there will be 2 files, one contains all the data, the other is like a .cue file. If you open that in notepad you can find the LayerBreak value to use so these programs work correctly. |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer You've taken me out of context. I'm just saying, if your using anything other than verbatim media for 360 backups. You will have problems. More important than for any other system. No need to be like that, I'm not sure if your familiar with burning\creating xbox 360 backups, but its a hell of a lot more complicated than copying them. If the bloke can't even copy the backups, it makes you wonder where he got them from ![]() If you get what I mean, why would you need to copy a backup....? How many backups do you need? I'm not commenting, those questions aren't meant to be answered, I gave a decent answer the OP, it was just an analergy to let him know he'll have problems with cheap media. |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer I am trying the same using 1:1 on the latest Clonecd and a Samsung SHW162L and Verbatim on 2.4 speed. All say good copy then never work in the console. Someone told me that it is difficult to copy the back up (so I always have a spare if one goes bad) but personally cannot see why. Do I need a Pioneer drive or is any dual layer writer good for the job? |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer i tried to make a backup of my Halo 3 Backup using clone Cd 5.3.1.0 to rip the image... then i remove the layer break setting from the image.dvd file and then set the layer break in DVD decrypter manually and then burn the image. it gives the unreadable disc error in my Xbox. any known problems with this game? or is it the method im using to burn the game which is the problem? |

I am using a Samsung SH-S203D drive. I have some kind of incompatibility between the drive and the SATA chipset, so I cant change booktype. I've backuped a 360 game (RITEK D01), it is booktyped as DVD+R DL, and my 360 reads it flawlessly. Booktyping as DVD-ROM increases compatibility of +R media with drives, but in case of the 360 it is not necessary. corp P.S: Anyway, i'll return the drive if I am not able to bitset +R media.

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer @ corpcd, You are “Lucky” that your Ritek D01 DL Media “Works”. It has been passed numerous times throughout this Forum that Verbatim DL MKM001/MKM003 Mitsubishi Kagaku Media is the only DL Media that consistently produces quality error free results. All other DL Media is considered suspect and should be avoided. If you believe your Ritek D01 DL Media was burned “flawlessly” suggest using a diagnostic software program similar to Nero CD/DVD Speed (http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroCDSpeed_4775.zip) and perform a Quality Disc Scan on your Ritek D01 DL Burned Media. How did you do your first backup ? just do the same again !! Nero DOES work on-the-fly so i would say its the media you are using or it might be the drive that you use for READING not reading correctly. Always use +DL media for the 360, preferably Verbatim disks Burning on-the-fly is always risky , disable antivirus and any other running programs before you burn. Still dont understand why you would want to burn another 360 backup from a backup !! | |

| Re: problem copying xbox 360 backups, asus reader and pioneer writer Well, in fact I bought two different Ritek discs, RitekD01 and RitekS03 (I'm not sure of the last mediacode). Quote:
Quote:
To the bitsetting issue: The "official" speech about the bitsetting issue is: "Increases compatibility of +R media with some laptop players". Of course, this happens because some players restrict (within the fw) the playability of media ONLY to DVD-ROM dics. So that's why bitsetting DVD+R to DVD-ROM you fool the fw to think the media is in fact a DVD-ROM. But 360 fw has been patched before running backups, and the "line" of code that restrict the DVD-ROM-only readability has been removed, so bitsetting as DVD-ROM do not increase compatibility. At least, this is my understanding as I've read accross 360 forums. corp

Also, it isnt that easy concerning Bitsetting. Some devices check the Mediatype (NO ONE CAN CHANGE!), other just check the Booktype.
