Pioneer A05 + >NIL v1.33 Firmware - PLEASE HELP!

Hi All,

I don't know what's going on. I've got a Pioneer A05 and have patched it with >NIL's - Pioneer DVR-105 v1.33 RPC-1 + 2xDVD-R + no rip limit for pressed DVD's - firmware.

There were no errors during patching and every application (such as DVDInfo) shows that the drive has v1.33 firmware. Prior to this, I also used the v1.30 >NIL patch.

I have never been able to rip at 12x or even close to it. I stagger between 1.8x to 2.0x - I can't burn 1x media at 2x. What's even more concerning now, is I just bought some Princo 4x media and it still only burns that at 1x!!!

I use DVD Decryptor v3.1.6.0 (And have tried v3.1.5.0 as well ) to rip the dvd.
I use RecordNow DX v4.50 to burn.

When I originally bought the A05, it would burn at 4x on 4x media with no problems. I tried the 1.30 hacked firmware first, patched OK, but couldnt rip higher than 2x or even burn 2x on 1x media. I then tried the 1.33 patch and still have the same problems. Only this time, my A05 doesn't burn 4x media at 4x.

I use WinXP as my OS. DMA is selected. The 4x media I am trying is the Princo with the label on the top.

Is their any known fix for this? Please someone help, as it is VERY frustrating have a 4x burner and burning at only 1x! And I just tried to rip DareDevil and was getting around 1.1x ripping speed...

Can someone please help me by steering me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance...

OK, I have solved my problem.

I downgraded to v0.54a using the Gradius files.

Then I restarted the PC. Went into Device Manager in XP and uninstalled the A05. Then restarted again. Then flashed the drive with the official v1.33b firmware from Pioneer. Now I can rip again at 2x and burn my 4x media at 4x with no problems.

I am tempted to try >NIL v1.33 firmware again, as I didn't uninstall then re-install drive after flashing with his firmware, but I am a bit hesitant to do so...
