Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers

The 8.58 firmware is ready.

Can ala42 add support for PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109 8.58 ?

The firmware is here:

Thanks for the link. Even being 3 months old, the 8.58 firmware want not spotted before. It will be supported in the next release.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers

Known restrictions:
- Strategy swapping for RW and DL media is not recommended.
- Changing (disabling) of write speeds is currently not implemented.

I still cannot save my changes.. (also all the settings are grayed out, i guess thats related with the "not implemented" feature..
also bootcode is empty? is that a problem?

i'm using the RA100010.137 file for de DVR-110 (was a D version)
and.. I've got the file from this location:
http://tdb.rpc1.org/

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_file.php?si...le=A10_137.ZIP

Any idea when it's implemented?

Hm.. In Fact.. I ran the program in a virtual Machine, and then I could save it?? strange.. Now my clock in the burning software counts very slow downwards.. does that means that it still doesn't burn on 16x (the program want to burn 12x on this media)

You have to load the RA100110.137 file, not on the RA100010.137 file. You will see the correct file in the file requester with defaults settings. The 1.37 firmware is supported since MCSE 1.0.7.6, older versions will display a message box saying this firmware is not supported. The 'bootcode' field is empty because the pioneer firmware contains no bootcode info as with pioneer files it is stored in the kernel file. The speeds are greyed out because decreasing speeds is not implemented. To increase the write speed you have to select a faster strategy by double clicking the entry you want to change.

DVD burning is a virtual machine is quite ambitious

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers

Ala can you please add FW 8.37 for the Pio 110(D).

I've got a bunch of cmc mag e01's and they only burn at 6x. Nero only recognizes them as 2.4x . However IMGburn does a pretty good job at 6x.

A question for ala42:
Does the MCSE adds "riplock patch" for the Pionner 109's firmware 8.58?

The state of the "increase read speed" checkbox indicates if the patch is available or not. Greyed out/disabled means not available, if it is selectable the patch is available. With 8.58 the box is selectable, so the patch is available.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers

I am running the Buffalo 8.37 on DVR-110D. I have a lot of the CMCMAGM01 DVD+R media. MCSE (1.0.7.7) shows the available strategies of 12X, 8X, ... However, Nero and CD Speed both show the max speed as 8X. Can somebody please explain what is happening here? I would like to burn these at 12X. My BenQ 1620 burns them at 16X fine.

BTW Ala42, thanks a lot for all the work you've done for us.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers

The Pioneer media tables are a bit strange as they contain strategies which are disabled. The way how they are disabled is not obvious so some are reported as being enabled. With MCSE 1.0.7.6 the display was already corrected for some MIDs. CMCMAG M01 seems to belong to the same class.

Could someone please check if PRODISC R04 and RITEK R04 really support 12x and MKM 003 supports 8x burning ? If these media are not available the test can also be done by swapping an available media to these MIDs.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers

Ala 42

CMC MAG M01 shows up as 8X on all variations of 1.37 fw. But on all variations of 8.37 it still shows up as 12X.

MKM 003 and Ritek R04 are showing at the lower speeds on 1.37 as well as 8.37.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers

So you mean the CMC MAG M01 speed display for a 8.37 firmware should be 12x, the other MCSE displayed speeds match reality ?

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers

When I load any of the 1.37 FWs in MSCE, the max dispalyed speed is 8X. When I load any of the 8.37 FWs in MSCE, the max displayed speed is 12X. In reality they all burn at 8X. My understanding of the changelog is that the 12X speed is not suppose to show for CMC MAG M01 any more. But it still does with the 8.37 FW.

The MKM 003 shows up as 2.4X in 1.37 and 8.37. So it matches the real burn speed.

Ritek R03 used to show as 12X, now it shows as 8X. So, it also matches the real burn speed.

MediaCodeSpeedEdit V1.0.8.1 is out.

MediaCodeSpeedEdit V1.0.8.1 is out. I thought someone told me the 110 firmwares, including 8.37, have no riplock. Anyway, the riplock patch is now also enabled for all 110 firmwares.
Code:
Changelog
1.0.8.1 22 Jan 2006
        - enabled riplock patch for Pioneer 110 firmwares
Download Changelog

No, you can only take existing write strategies. One thing you can do is to use better media and burn them at the normal speed.

for Pioneer DVR-110/110D firmwares which strategy replacements are supposed to be lossless?

it seems that only DVD+R and DVD-R are lossless in the latest MCSE, but i thought that at least DVD+R9 and DVD-R9 (not that it would help since there is only one media code listed) were supposed to be lossless as well? was i just mistaken?

thanks.

No, but my changelog is mistaken, I have not implemented this. Technically this is no problem, as the mechanism used for the +R strategies will also work for the +R9 and -R9 strategies, I only have to allow it also for this media types. In practice it does not really make sense, as the -R9 table has only one entry and the +R9 table already supports 8x writing for both MKM media, which seem to be the only media which can support 8x speed with good quality. In case you want to make swapping tests on +R9 media, first try it with the current renaming mechanism. If the results are ok, I can send you a firmware using the lossless mechanism to check that the results are the same.

Hi ala42

An user on italian section asked me how it's possible to downgrade to a previous firmware version for a Pioneer 107D, but I don't know how. Is it possible to to with MCSE?
