Flashing Pioneer 105 in WinXP Pro

How do I flash a Pioneer 105 to version 1.33 in WinXP Pro? According to the official instructions this should be done in DOS but WinXP Pro doesn't have a real mode DOS.

I've read in one of the instruction sites that it should be possible to flash it under Windows but the many postings of dead DVD drives are making me quite hesitant to try without being certain.

A newbie question, I know, but could someone please help me out even if it is for the umpteenth time

Some Pioneer DVD Recorders can be flashed from windows by executing the commands in a DOS box. You can get into DOS with Windws XP or 2000 by using a boot disk. That's how Pioneer wants you to do it.

Burn this CD then boot from it http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/boot_iso.zip , then flash your drive. Due to DOS memory issues you may have to put the new firmware and flashing prog on floppy (thats what I had to do) then flash from there. Try to do it from your HD first though. The good thing about that CD is it has a driver to read NTFS drives built in. Flashing from a command prompt in windows is not recommended by Pioneer.
