Re: Cant turn on dma..

Nero 7.0 > update immediately.

Also, your drives are on nvidia ide drivers - gives issues.

Re: Cant turn on dma..

You don't need to get rid of ALL nvidia drivers, but only IDE ones.

If I'm not wrong, for s-ata HDD controllers DMA is not changeable

Re: Cant turn on dma..

"dma if available" is not important.

What is shown under that info??

Re: Cant turn on dma..

just completed a 12x burn and has taken just over 10 minutes...under normal circumstances that should have been done in at least 7mins, i know its only 3 min difference but thats not the quibble....it will get progressively slower i assume and then i will not be able to burn again.

Re: Cant turn on dma..

Re: Cant turn on dma..

Burning don't start immediately. First the drive do some calibrations. In some drives these can require a full minute or more.

Re: Cant turn on dma..

Can you try this drive on a different computer? In this way it's possible to exclude a damaged drive.

Re: Cant turn on dma..

Have you checked cables?

Pioneer need a 80 wire cable to work correctly. If I'm not wrong these are UDMA-4 drives

Re: Cant turn on dma..

Not only this, I already told you that you are using NVIDIA IDE drivers and there come your issues from!!

Also, use better media and leave such crap as Alcohol off the system.

Re: Cant turn on dma..

using tayo yuden and ritek g05 only.....never had any problems before with having other engines installed, nonetheless, another thing i can eliminate from the cause. How do i totally strip out the nvidia drivers, for the optical drives anyway i thought i had, i did not touch the sata nvidia drivers though. I am also using 80 wire connecters.

From your log above your hard drives are probably in PIO mode, a condition that MS windows drops into when it has issues?
You will have to get these into DMA mode as well.

Re: Cant turn on dma..

To uninstall IDE drivers, go to device manager, expand the item IDE ATA/ATAPI and double click on primary and secondary IDE channel. You should have a window similar to the one I posted for each IDE channel.

Select the "driver" tab and then "uninstall" button.

This should force windows to request a reset, but wait a little; before you need to uninstall drivers both in primary and secondary channel; then do the reset and windows reintall standard IDE drivers.

As safe measure, create first a system restore point or do a backup of important data on your C: drive
