ok! I'm wondering if anyone could help me with this problem I'm having? First I'm running windows xp sp2 & I purchased the pioneer dvr-112d sometime in late feb. beginning of mar. or so. I've used this product since then without any problems I was fairly satisfied with it up until yesterday. I couldn't burn anything. I haven't changed anything or nothing. It just stopped burning. It can read data, audio, dvd, blank cd's but when I try to burn /w nero 7 all of sudden it just hangs. The time on it still accumulates but never burns doesn't even give an error time just accumulates. Right after it says "Buffer underrun protection started" it claims its writing but just hangs. I guess its the file buffer the one on top is at 100%, but I've noticed that the one at the bottom I guess its the device buffer where it says like lead in doesn't fill up at all. I don't know if the logs would help but

I checked my DMA settings they were configured properly, and I even uninstalled the secondary ide channels, rebooted they reinstalled correctly. It didn't work either I came up with the same errors.

For the Pioneer DVR-112D to function correctly requires the use of an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable and be operating in the Ultra DMA Mode 4.

Concerning “Identifikation: DVD-RW DVR-112D Revision :1.06” ->

Your Pioneer DVR-112D has old out of date obsolete version 1.06 Firmware. You should update your Pioneer DVR-112D to the newest most current up to date version 1.21 Firmware.

I'd just like to say thanks for helping me with this its definitely

I guess? From the logs between both software & OS's. Now could this

actually be the reason why it worked for months since like march & all of

a sudden stop working?


Could U possibly point me in the right direction on how I would go about

First make sure that both drives are connected to an 80 wire IDE cable.
The Pio should run in UDMA4 mode, the othe rone in UDMA2 mode.

This may sound stupid, but bare with me how do I determine what type of

cables I have? My computer's type old like since 2000 compaq presario.

Yes, there both connected to an 80 wire IDE cable. My COMPAQ DVD-ROM DRD8080B 1.10 is connected at the end, and my PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D 1.06 is connected in the middle. I have the cable select jumpers set in both.

try and switch the drivers around and have the pioneer as the master drive (end of cable) and the other as slave (middle of cable). Some drives don't like being set as non master. As well, don't use cable select, try and set the jumper to what the drive actually is. Master as Master and Slave as Slave. Let us know how you make out.

Bad choice, turn them around, the Pio at the end and jumper it as MASTER and the Compaq in the middle and jumper it as slave.

Using the CS (Cable Select) jumper selection is not desirable and in many hardware/software configurations prove to be problematic.

I've changed them around and set the jumpers properly. I still having the same problem.

What is the MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code) of the blank Media you are attempting to burn Data to? In your previous Forum postings you were using Ritek branded media. In many instances Ritek branded media has proved to be problematic. Suggest using known proven quality Media that consistently produces quality error free results such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media.

Did you ever address your Free Physical Memory problem? Refer to my #6 posting in this thread for corrective action.

Have you ensured that your Pioneer DVR-112D is operating in the Ultra DMA Mode 4? Refer to my #6 posting in this thread for detailed DMA information.

Did you ever update your Pioneer DVR-112D old outdated Firmware Version 1.06 to the newer most current up to date Version 1.21 Firmware?
To avoid any confusion suggest confirming exactly what your “I still having the same problem” actually is.
