Asus / Pioneer Burner Discuss, Burn speeds at CD and DVD Burners forum; I have a pioneer 110d and when i burn a disc it will start at say 6x then go upto 8x and then jump up and down all through the burn but i get a good burn but was wondering if anyone knows what could cause this and how to

This is normal!
It mainly depends on the quality of the used media.

Ditto! It is trying to burn your disk without errors. Cheap -R media needs to be burned at 4X on this beast and cheap +R can be burned at 8-12X.
My Staples -R media will not burn a full disk at speeds above 4X. The CMC E01 +R Staples media is the best media I have used to date in PIOs and BQs for quality. 95-98% quality and low errors.
Goes back to the formula; media+FW+software+Hardware+burn speed+setup=determine quality

I can burn cheap (Ritek G05) on my 110D at 8x without any problems with the disc... but the burn time goes about 2 minutes longer than it should.
