Re: Total DVD newbie.....just need help.

is your bios in quick POST mode. Or more to the point, does the bios list the Drive when you start your system. Also, what motherboard are you using

Re: Total DVD newbie.....just need help.

rey going into the BIOS and try manually "auto detect" your IDE drives. And of course check for faulty cables etc

Re: Total DVD newbie.....just need help.

Yo-

Check and double check your jumper setting - if set on "cable select" change to "master"-

Make sure that you are using a 80 pin cable and that the red stripe is on the power plug side-

Possibly reinstall your windows 98 and double check your device drivers in control panel "system" section (it may show an old cd or dvd that was previously installed and failed to remove - remove it and reboot)

Happy Burnin'

Mike

Re: Total DVD newbie.....just need help.

I currently have a CD writer connected to primary slave should I disconnect it?....

Also how do I know if I have a 80 or 40 pin connector (don't flame!)
