| Optiarc AD-7170 and MKM media I burned a dual layer disk with Mac OS X 10.4 and scanned with a LiteOn LH-20A1P, external, from another Windows XP computer. Media MKM 001 2,4X Burned at 4x, it was an option without firmware patches. Firmware unknown, it's the stock firmware in MacPros. The LiteOn scanning drive *could* have problems with the power supply, see http://club.cdfreaks.com/f44/20a1p-k...mkm-dl-231088/ Horrible result, I don't even know whether to throw the disk away or not.

| Re: Optiarc AD-7170 and MKM media The problem is not in the LiteOn used for scanning. Any ideas/suggestions?

| Re: Optiarc AD-7170 and MKM media Unbranded, chipset Cypress AT2. Dragemester has an enclosure with the same chipset, it can do 25 MB/s burst and up to 16x burning (17x reading).

| Re: Optiarc AD-7170 and MKM media I tried to test the DL media with the Optiarc, but CD-DVD Speed does not recognise the burner, probably because of Parallels. There is another computer with a dvd burner, but CD-DVD speed has the "Start" button greyed out, so maybe it requires admin privileges, I don't have them. I tried just now to put the DL dvd into my internal LG HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8164B (only reader), but the start button is greyed out as weel, even if I have admin privileges in this computer. I am trying now a TRT test (the Start button is ok), but this LG reader has some serious problems... I think it is really a bad disk.

| Re: Optiarc AD-7170 and MKM media Finished, the reading speed ranges from about 2.2x to 5.5x, but it depends on this LG DVD-ROM reader, I am sure. I hope to find a way to test the DL Verbatim disk with a dvd burner, to measure again the PI/PO.

| Re: Optiarc AD-7170 and MKM media The LiteOn burner I used for the scanning cannot detect Verbatim, TDK, Fujifilm, Emtec blank DL media. My burner is gone, the Optiarc is probably fine.

| Re: Optiarc AD-7170 and MKM media The Optiarc seems fine, but I notice that its maximum speed is about the same of my Liteon, when slowed down in the second half of the disc (here 10-11 MiB/s, that is 8x speed).
