Nec 2500 Mine Only Works As 4x. Help? - Club CDFreaks

Hi, I got my DVD Writer last week. so far I have burnt 2 DVD's , 1 in Nero, and the other in COPYTODVD. Both times they copied at 4 speed. Any ideas chaps why this does not copy at 8x. DMA has been enabled by the way.

It also depends on the media and the firmware you are using. Please post both. Use DVDInfoPro to see what you are using.

im using firmware 1.06 and bulkpaq orange 4.7gb DVD-R

Unless you are using Herrie's firmware or the dangerous brothers firmware then you are unlikely to get these 4x discs to write at anything other than the 4x they are rated at.

You could try the 1.07 official firmware if you don't want to use an unofficial one, as this improve the disc compatibility quite a bit.

Even if you could write at 8x I wouldn't really recommend with these discs as they are a bit cheap and nasty.
