fault or damaged optiarc ad-7530a ?

Hello,

I have a brandnew laptop a acer aspire 9423wsmi with a build in optiarc dvd rw ad-7530a ata device.
the drive can burn and read dvd and burn a backup and read backup's but a game install for example flightsimulator x from microsoft he don't want to install. wat is happend.
is this a fault in hardware or software?
this happend also with other games (sillent hunter 4)
under xp they wil instal but in vista (home premium) they won't install


please help

This cannot be a hardware problem, IMO.
Vi$ta is known for such trouble...

I would install xp as a second OS, preferably on a second hdd.

ok but my meaning is that if i buy a device with vista as os that the component build in also are for vista.
it's not a cheap laptop (1300 euro)

well I got my self benq R55v that already vista compatible,.. n got optiarc AD -7530A also,.. it reads and burns cd's very well,.. but the funny thing is it reads DVD R media better than Gold pressed dvd??? i'm so frustrated cause alomost my apps , games and movies are on gold dvd's... does somebody has the same problem with me???
