3540A won't record past 2.4x - Club CDFreaks

I bought a new NEC ND3540A, it says it records up to 16x DVD+R, I have 2 50 packs of JVC DVD+R 1-8X discs, everytime I try to record onto those DVDs, it only lets me record at 2.4x. I use anyDVD with CloneDVD2, and I also have nero, but it won't let me select the burn speed, and it's stuck on 2.4x. any suggestions?

Those discs are not supported in the current firmware.
Hence the 2.4x generic writing strategy.

you can't select a burn speed without a disc in the drive in nero
