Nero recode result too large

Hello,
I recoded a DVD with Nero Recode (v2.1.1.18) with the options "Main movie to DVD" and "Fit to target - DVD-5 (4,7GB)". As target I choose an hard disk folder. After this, I wanted to burn the content of this folder with Nero Burning Rom (v6.3.1.20) --> Video-DVD and it said, that it was too large for the media (empty DVD+R = 4.483MB, data files of Recode = 4.491MB). I verified also the Nerorecode.log and I saw nearly at the end of the file: 'Original 5875.97MB -> Expected 4458.69MB -> Output 4490.41MB'. It's the first time, I have this problem with a too big result of Recode (otherwise it gives good results). Has anyone an idea, what I made wrong or how to prevend this ?

Question Re: Nero recode result too large

Just to add a question: does the quality decrease significantly, if I rerecode a video folder produced by Nero Recode?

Re: Nero recode result too large

Did you do the advanced analysis - it should make your output fit to a DVD5.

Re: Nero recode result too large

Hello Cynthia,
yes, I did. I have analysed different log-files of Nero Recode and I saw, that the output is in most cases bigger than expected (advanced analysis turned on). So the analysis of Recode is only approximate. I solved the problem by overburning the DVD, but it's always risky.
