Nero recode burning slowly

I'm currently running nero recode as my burning software and I can't get it to burn a single-layer 16x Memorex DVD-R faster than 2x. I'm using a lite-on 16-20A1S drive which is giving me excellent output with Kprobe and a burst rate above 60. I ran a drive speed and DVD speed test using Nero tools and it burned up to maximum speed of 18.3x. However, when I go to burn a disk it burns at 2x even though I have the settings at maximum burn speed. It also burned slowly with DVD shrink + Nero.

Is it something in the settings or should I try some other software?

Re: Nero recode burning slowly

Not much help, I know but...
I am seeing the same thing -- burning at 1X instead of higher as Nero is set for.

This started when I started using a new spindle of of the same brand and type
of DVD media, when I was using a different brand (that I used up) Nero burned
at the max for my burner.

Need a different brand of media to compare burning the same files to, to see if
it is truly media related.

I just used nero record yesterday and i have 2 dvd burners ,it rip and burn at the same time on the fly it took 30 mins for full disc with a burn speed of 2.4 quality great now if you rip and burn with a different program its 25 mins to rip full disc and 5 mins to burn at 20x now which way would you like for quality ?. Are you saying that its ripping to hard drive first and then burnning at that slow speed?. ifs that the case it could be the memorex disc and what nero version are you using
