I used to think Roxio (aka Nero) was a nice product, well engineered, and performed as intended (vs. as designed). It seem the the marketeers and bean counters have interceeded to squeeze another few dollars out of us.

I'm going to look for a product that works out of the box without "Oh, you wanted to actually watch a DVD? You need to buy that option." I don't want to rip off anyone, I just want a product that plays DVDs.
This is an I/O Magic 16X DVD burner.
Getting off my soapbox.

Re: DVD-Video Plug-in required

Did you ever figure out anything that worked? I also have an I/O Magic 16x dvd burner and have been frustrated for 3 months trying to get a combination that works. I have ripped some DVD's to my hard drive using DVDFab Decrypter. I get great video when trying to burn, but no audio, and the dreaded "DVD Video Plug-in required". I keep seeing where the serial number needs to be added. Any idea where the serial number can be found? When I start Nero Vision Express, it shows the option for video, as was mentioned in another reply, but it still doesn't recognize that I have the plugin. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Re: DVD-Video Plug-in required

I also have just purchased a dvd burner that came with a free copy of Nero OEM. A.K.A Nero 6 express. When I try to use "create dvd from video files", I get no sound. The multichannel/dvd plug-in required also pops up telling me to purchase SN to activate this feature.

I first noticed this after i made the dvd and began to watch it on my home dvd player. I was mad to discover that I needed the plug-ins. So the answer would be "NO" the sound will not work with Nero OEM with out the plug-ins.

I am just wondering. If I get the SN# for these plug-ins, will I be able to use the #'S on Nero OEM? Or will I just have to get a full version of Nero for and a leg. Has anyone figured this out? I just want to burn my movie and enjoy it with audio!! Thanks!!

Re: DVD-Video Plug-in required

i have read most of these threads about the nero plug in and I believe this only matters if the avi file your trying to return to DVD format was in Dolby surround. I have used my OEM nero same version as others and have burnt many dvds but cannot if the movie was AVI/d with the Dolby.

I am not sure, but i did this and my problem got solved.....download
'dvd video plugin.exe' for nero 7 or nero 8 whatever u r using from anywhere.....then install it and enter serial no which u can get from underground sites...just it...

Actually , The functionalities of the DVD-Video Multichannel Plug-in are included in Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced and Nero 8 Ultra Edition. The plug-in can only be used with Nero 7 Essentials and Nero 8 Essentials.

Nero 7 Essentials version 7.2 or higher is required for this plug-in. Earlier versions of Nero 7 Essentials can be updated at no additional cost.

chayan...
