BTC/ Emprex Burner Discuss, why my btc 1008 obly burn @1.9x on a 2.4x dvd+r? at CD and DVD Burners forum; Hi, I just bought an IO magic which is actually a btc 1008. When I use 4x dvd-r it did burn @ ~4x speed. But when I use 2.4x dvd+r media, it only burn @ 1.9x and under. It never reach 2x and above. is this normal? Thanks

Hi,

I just bought an IO magic which is actually a btc 1008. When I use 4x dvd-r it did burn @ ~4x speed. But when I use 2.4x dvd+r media, it only burn @ 1.9x and under. It never reach 2x and above. is this normal?

yes. look at the specs of the drive... its a 2x burner (for 2.4x discs) and 4x for 4x discs.

The BTC DRW 1008IM has possible (depending on actual media) write speeds of 1x, 2x, 4x, 6x, and 8x on DVD+R media. (2.4x is not available)

In addition, if you're using Nero for recording, the latest versions seem to calculate DVD transfer rate at 1385 kb/sec (instead of 1350 kb/sec), so 2x recording at 2700 kb/sec ends up being reported as 1.9x recording.

In short, you aren't have a problem.

1x is 1385Kb/s if I'm correct....so nero is not cheating you there....

I've tried to find some documentation in regards to 1x being either 1350 or 1385 kb/s, but have not found anything yet. Almost all apps use 1350 for calculation, and Nero did until the last two versions.
