Suggestions for newer firmware revisions.

Before anything else, thanks to Marco and all the BTC team for the fast response and solid products. I am for one a very very satisfied customer and I will keep getting BTC products.

My suggestions for the DRW1008IM firmware are only 2, besides the added media compatibility that BTC is taking very seriously:

- HD Burn support.
- Ability to upgrade firmware in a USB enclosure.

The HD burn support is what me made get an Optorite before giving it away. I understand that now I can use a DVD, but why waste a DVD for a 1.2 GB file if you already have many blank CDs capable of HD-burn? Also, my HD-burn CDs become coasters without a drive capable of reading them.

The second one is not as obvious, but for many of us who have the drive in a USB enclosure (for laptop usage mainly) taking it out constantly of the enclosure for a newer firmware is not convenient.

Besides those comments, so far very happy with my 1008IM... the same way I was with my CDRW IDE5224IM.

Thanks again

Alex

Myself being a person who has been very critical of BTC am very impressed with the latest rounds of firmware updates, thanks. Now my thoughts on these requests:

- HD Burn support.
I doubt this can be done as I believe there are some hardware and liscensing requirements from Sanyo(?) I think, but it would be nice.

This however should be very easy for them. I have downloaded the usb firmware from the BTC site and added the firmware and ID String for my 1004IM and flashed my drive fine. Since the software already exists they just need to package the firmwares with the loader.

I think the HD-burn is only enabling some bits, but I could be wrong....

Regarding the USB capabilities, I noticed that the USB version sees my drive in the enclosure! So I can use this firmware

Only minor gripe about it is that the USB firmware is a few versions behind....
