| Re: Replace Drive in External Unit It all depends on the chipset in the controler board. Look inside and see if the name is listed on the chip. Most drives will work at 8X but some BenQ and LG and NEC are picky about certain chips. If you want to get a box that works well it is only about $30 from Dealsonic.com. Look for Plumax with the Prolific 3507 chip.
