Problems with my DVDRW IDE1108 in device manager - Club CDFreaks

Hi there, hope someone can help me. I cant use my DVD drive, wont show up in explorer, and when I go to device manager it shows up there as having a problem, the problem is listed as follows:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Ive tried everything I can think of. I know the drive works cause if I have a bootable cd drive in there when the machine starts it will load off that cd no problems, but once its in windows it seems to fail for some reason. I cant update the firmware as the drive cant be 'seen' by the firmware programs. Any suggestions? Please help!!

Hi Bishop.

Standard approach is: Delete the drive from the device manager. Reboot, and Windows should find it again.

If this fails, make sure that your DVD drive and your harddisk are not on the same IDE channel. Then delete the IDE channel the DVD drive in on. Reboot, and Windows will reinstall the entire IDE channel.

This should do the trick.
