| Problems with 1004 with XP sp1 Hi, I have the 1004 for almost a year now and when I upgraded XP to sp1 I can't burn DVDs, but worked fine for CD-R. I'm using Nero 6.3.0.0 to burn DVDs and CD-R. Before the upgrade the 1004 burn DVDs fine with no coasters. Now it aborts a 1%. I have looked under device manager and found that the IDE 1004 is labled as a SCSI, "DVDRW IDE1004 SCSI cdROM Device". I am sure that the 1004 is not a SCSI. I tried to uninstalled and reinstall, but XP seems to install the same device again and again. My 2 hard drives are also labled as SCSI too, I'm not sure what went wrong. My firmware is still at 43, I didn't want to upgrade the firmware because I have read here that people having a lot of problems with it. The DVD disc that I'm using are the Ritek g40, they worked fine for me until now. I'm thinking about going back to XP without sp1 if I can't figure out this problem. If anyone could help me with this problem I would appreciate it. Anyways here are the error message for the log: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.60 (1021), size=45056 bytes, created 9/10/1999 4:06:00 AM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.59, size=160016 bytes, created 11/11/2003 2:49:52 PM Nero version: 6.3.0.0 Recorder: <DVDRW IDE1004> Version: 0043 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.3.0.0 Adapter driver: <> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? | Re: Problems with 1004 with XP sp1 Hi, you updated surely to sp1 not sp2, if sp2 you should update also nero to the latest version, there are some problems with previous versions. Firmwareupdate: btc should have solved the problem with ritekg04 medias with the new 151 fw but i´m not sure, you can try to update (maybe wait until someone has testet the fw). As i see in the logfile have installed nvidia ide drivers? uninstall them and use the MS standard driver. DMA is disabled enable DMA in system --> system settings --> hardware --> advanced (select DMA if available). And set the burning device to master ( if not already done, set the the jumper of the drive to master not cable select) hope this helps
