Problem writing 8x with BTC 1008

Hi,

i have a new BTC1008 Drive with 357 FW from TDB.
With Nero it is not possible to select 8x writing speed. The
DVD+R i have used, is a RICOHJPN R02 from Platinum and is labeled with 8x.
The maximum speed i can select, is 4x.

Is my drive a fake, and BTC1008 can't write 8x? Or is this a general fake from BTC?

Does anybody share this experiences?

Regards

Joerg

I have the same problem and BTC replied that RICOHJPN R02 is not supported by F/W 357, but they will release 457 soon and this media will be supported up to write 8x.

Maybe you should check media support list from their web and decide which media to buy, I learned.

I tried this withe the 0457 FW.
The same result, maximum speed for DVD+R is 4x.

Sorry, it's 0557, not 0457.

It's a damn shame that BTC's support of 8X media is so poor.

Since I've not been able to find a local source for "supported" 8X media, I feel like I purchased a 4X burner instead of the 8X I paid for.
