i have tried all movie players including the ones you mentioned but it doesn't recognise that there is even a disk in the drive if i put one of the movies mentioned in to it

check if dma is enabled. also is the drive locked to region 2? or are you just saying that because you are in region 2?

btw i am in region 2 and yes i set it to region 2 when i insalled it

Have you tried the drive in another computer, sometimes hardware conflicts or software problems can cause major problems the best way to test it is try it in another computer before jumping to conclusions.

as i have said b4 i have tried all media players and nothing will wok on these particular discs i was wondering if any one else has had this prob

i have this same problem m8.

work in a school as a techy and they have ordered 30 of the new drivers i have put them in all the machines and the drivers will not play... some dvd's no jus twont play it wont read the disc?

i was hoping that a firmware upgrade will fix the problem

I first got one of these drives at least an external for my birthday in November 2006 it totally trashed my PC it took 2 weeks to get it back running right I sent it back to catalogue and had an internal one this H16X model not only wont it not play dvd's it wont record anything without a problem of some kind the best I can get is with RRW disks and then only the one record if I try a second record it will not do a thing it judders through the video I have tried +RW -RW various makes but they will not work period.

Tonight I upgraded the firmware BIG MISTAKE at least previously it would make some kind of a recording now well all I amm doing is wasting electricity it does not do a thing it says its burnt the disk but when I put it in the DVD player I get disk not recognised.

Is this unit C R A P or what I say yes BTC ignore any and all emails.

This is the worst item of technology I have ever bought if I can convince the catalogue company to take it back its going.
