BTC/ Emprex Burner Discuss, Power supply requirement ? at CD and DVD Burners forum; How much is watt is required for the BTC 1008IM to work, because i think i have problem with my power supply, it's 250 watt. What kind of should i buy ? how much watt should it have e.t.c. ? because i think that is the issue of why

Power supply requirement ?

How much is watt is required for the BTC 1008IM to work, because i think i have problem with my power supply, it's 250 watt. What kind of should i buy ? how much watt should it have e.t.c. ? because i think that is the issue of why my computer restarts while burning dvd-medias...plz answer!!

You'd have to describe your system a bit. If you have a, let's say, P3-800 with 256MB of RAM, a single HDD and your burner, and an ordinary VGA card, then your PSU would suffice.

I have an Emprex 8X (BTC 1008IM) running in a Biostar SFF PC. My system are:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Biostar Ideq 200P
1GB PC3200 DDR
Emprex 8X DVD RW
Floppy/Card Reader
Geforce FX5600
200 Watt PSU

Okay pc is this:

40 GB HD SAMSUNG (PARTITIONED)
256 MB SDRAM
GEFORCE 2 MX/MX 400
DVD-WRITER BTC 1008MI
P4 1,5 GHZ
Network Card Interface
MICROSTAR-6391 (MOTHERBOARD)

Should it work this way ?

250W is low by today's standards, upgrade to at least a 350W as most of the ratings you see on power supplies, expecially the noname brands are iffy to say the least.
