PHILIPS.041 DVD+RW 4X: Any success?

Hi guys

I was just wondering if anybody is using DVD+RW 4X media with MID=PHILIPS.041 with the BTC DRW1004 drive? I never had any success with this media, regardless of firmware (0039, 0040, 0041, 0043, 0045, 0047 and 0048).

I have tried Nero 6.0.0.28, 6.3.0.0, 6.3.0.2 and CopyToDVD (last 4 releases), NTI CD/DVD maker 6.5, even a clean XP install - but I always end up with burns that are unreadable in any other device but the BTC drive itself

When running K's Probe I get PI avg around 3500 and PO around 300 - so no wonder no other device wont read the discs.

The weird thing is that the media should be supported since firmware 0045. At least according to BTC. However I have a feeling that they didn't test the media recently.

BTW: I'm pretty sure my drive is OK since I am using TDK DVD+RW 4X with MID=RICOHJPNW11 without any problems whatsoever. It's just that damn PHILIPS.041

Cheers,
Peter

Monday drive - that was my first impression as well. However I find it quite strange that it works with other DVD+RW media, including the 4X TDK and 2.4X Ricoh. It's very good with other media as well.

I'm baffled!

Could you please perform a K's Probe scan of the PHILIPS.041 media? I would like to know the PI and PO values. Have you tested the media in other devices apart from the BTC itself?
