Is my BTC a lite on? plz plz plz

I saw an ad on apex for a good deal on a polaroid 24-10-40 cdr/w Was at Officemax with coupons and rebates it was $45 but.... It was spose to be a rebadged Liton but I see that xp says its a BTC bcm2410IM. Went to btc page but no firmware. http://www.btcusa.com/product_3.html#2 Was I told wrong about it being a LiteOn? I can not find frmware so I can not upgrade it. What a hassle screwing around with silly rebates! I only wanted the LiteOn. AnyOne have an idea on this? Is any one familiar with this BTC drive? How can I tell if it will copy safedisc protection well like the liteon does? Great forum thanks in advance..

Polaroid sells stuff from different manufacturers, BTC one day and Lite-On the next day.

So you have got yourself a BTC drive then, which may not be that bad afterall.

The 32X is listed as being able to backup all SD2 versions availible up to now. I'm not sure about the 24X, but my guess is that it will most likely work with this drive also.

Just try it out for yourself

Dunno about the BTC....But if you're looking for a rebadged LiteOn,you best look if there's SmartBurn mentioned on the box....it's LiteOn's own licensed buffer underrun protection....if there's another name for the burnproof protection on the box,ie:Seamless link,BurnProof or JustLink,it's definitely NO rebadged LiteOn........

I've noticed now that many boxes just say, "With buffer underrun prevention" or something generic like that, in which case you can't tell who makes it.

It's not a Lite-On. BTC is a separate company that also manufactures burners.

The 32x BTC burns CD-RW at 10x max.
The 32x Lite-On burns CD-RW at 12x max.
