BTC/ Emprex Burner Discuss, My BTC 1008 solution to read, write, and bitset problems at CD and DVD Burners forum; Solution: Set drive jumper to cable select. Problem: Couldn't bitset Couldn't read cdr or some pressed cds. DVD-R and DVD-RW unreadable by other players Hardware config: VIA bus, single 40-wire ide cable. Hope this helps some people out there.

My BTC 1008 solution to read, write, and bitset problems

Solution:
Set drive jumper to cable select.

Problem:
Couldn't bitset
Couldn't read cdr or some pressed cds.
DVD-R and DVD-RW unreadable by other players

Hardware config: VIA bus, single 40-wire ide cable.

Hope this helps some people out there.

Gosh, this is getting stranger and stranger every day!

Everyone tells me that CS is a big no-no with this drive!

Reverse psychology

and yet by doing these things it actually got my drive working. I'm not even sure the 40/80 wire IDE cable matters for this drive. I've swapped both around with no effect. The fix was setting the jumper to CS. Probably the only way it would cooperate with my VIA bus.

worked for me as well...i've been fighting to make this drive work on an asus a7v8x to no avail...burned well at 2x and everything i burned at 4x would freeze in my standalone...updated to 0357 and set to cable select and all is working well...i guess wonders truly do never cease

[Hi,

It seems I have the same problem.

I have

MotherBoard ASROCK K7S8X
BTC 1008
Firmware 357

I have pbs reading the burnt dvds on some standalones.

I tryed setting cable select but the PC PC does not boot ?

Any ideas ?
